Classic Pokemon Manga

Hi. I'm an old Pokemon fan coming back into it (I'm 17 now, but I was about 7 or 8 when I first liked it I think) and it's been YEARS since I've checked out any Pokemon fansite, any fanfiction, or basically anything that's kept me up to date on things.

I've always wanted to read the classic Pokemon mangas (about Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu with Team Rocket etc) simply because of all the pairings, and all the interesting things about Team Rocket that I've never seen before - secrets about Butch and Cassidy, and the fact that Jessie marries James and so forth, it's like a completely new world opening up.

However, my only problem is that having not kept up to date I don't know what this series of the manga is called and where I can find them and whether or not they're rare. So I was wondering if I could have some help please? Thanks.

P.S. I hate the red/blue/yellow/whatever series coz they're so boring no offence. I read a bit of them assuming them to be the Ash, Misty and Brock series, but upon finding that they weren't I was really bored and didn't finish.

Well I have no idea where you can find that manga you're looking for (I ain't really sure it exists, the manga adaptions of Pokémon are very much different to the anime adaption).

That being said, I must disagree with your last statement about PokéSpecial. I've read a lot of manga, and that series is one of the best ones I've read. I reckon you should give it another shot.

Pokémon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu is what I think you're looking for. I'm not entirely sure where or how to find it, but Google should be able to find some scans.

The manga you want doesn't exist.

I'm sure it must be some fanmade crap.

Only official things! Doujinishis belong to Fan Art!

Oh thanks ever so much. I've just found some volumes on Ebay so after Christmas I'll ask mum if I can buy some. Thanks again!

Doujinshi is basically more or less fandom porn, and no it wasn't fanmade 'crap' as you say it, because they were real scans spread across the internet when Pokemon was still roaring : P Everybody knew of them then. In fact, they weren't even doujinshi mangas, they were just mangas so... :)

Could it be possible that just because you haven't seen the scans yourself, you're assuming that it's some fanmade stuff and that I'm a liar.

Ok well thanks very much anyway. I learnt something new today. I wonder why they chose to make a story about Ash and Misty and stuff instead of Red and Blue and other peoples though? :S Weird. It's like the cartoon people just made a whole new world.

Yeah it might've just been because I didn't know what I was looking for, picked up the wrong thing and then was disappointed when the people I wanted never showed up. But anyway thanks for posting.

Dengeki Pikachu (Electric Tale of Pikachu in English) does NOT include Yamato & Kosaburou, all the pairings are only mentioned in the very end and it's not very different from anime. So, that's certainly NOT the thing you mean.

And calling Pikachu manga "Classic Pokemon Manga" isn't really right. Classic Pokemon Manga is titled Pocket Monsters and it was first released in 1996 (you know, the Gags series with Pippi).
