I looked around, and the previous thread related to this is pretty dead, over a month, so I'm creating a new one. Just to let you know.

As you all know, comic books have been recently(the past 4 or so years) very popular movies, and have been made into movies a lot now. Here, you can discuss new information pertaining to these movies, rumors, and what you think about it. I'll start off with some fairly used knowledge.

The Fantasic Four movie, set to come out in about a year. So far, they've casted: Michael Chiklis - Ben Grimm/The Thing, Jessica Alba - Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Chris Evans - Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Ioan Gruffudd - Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Also, there is a strong chance Ray Liotta will be Victor, a.k.a. Dr. Doom.

I'm very much anticipating this movie, and I hope it will be amazing. I'm angry about some of the casting, but as long as there are movies made about comics on this scale, there will always be mistakes.

Also, Jack Black will be Green Lantern in an upcoming Green Lantern movie. Yes, it's upsetting, but it's a comedy, so those of you who like them comedies might enjoy it.

They're also making Death: The High Cost of Living (a Sandman spin-off) into a movie...
I don't suppose anyone knows what I'm typing about?
    :(

Good series, and Neil Gaiman might be directing it too, which should be cool.

Some real big news, at least I think:
"Watchmen," the seminal DC Comics limited series, has landed at Paramount Pictures. Darren Aronofsky will develop and direct the project, which is being written by David Hayter. Aronofsky's producing partner Eric Watson will produce with Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin. "Watchmen," created by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, was released as a 12-issue comic book in 1986 and is one of the most critically acclaimed series in the genre. It is a crime-conspiracy story that provided the first realistic look at the behind-the-heroics lives of superhero archetypes.

Yay! You knew what I was talking about.
I haven't read comics for a while, but DC and Vertigo used to release really great stuff some years ago... I'll look into that Watchmen series.

During this time in movies, I favor Marvel. I haven't yet seen Catwoman, but I probably will, because I'm an avid comic reader. I agree though, that DC and Vertigo had amazing stuff. My favorite is probably (from Vertigo) Transmetropolitan. I wish that was a movie (which would be sort of ironic).

Also, heard a looong time ago that Love and Rockets (by the Hernandez Bros) would become a film... don't know if you're familiar with any news on that.

I haven't heard anything about that. I checked IMDB.com and they didn't have any information about it, so it probably hasn't started production yet.

    GOOD NEWS!!!
"An inside source informed me at the San Diego Comic-Con that Joel Schumacher has signed on to Dimension's Wake the Dead, a story about four college kids who attempt to reanimate the dead. It is based off of a comic book series written by 30 Days of Nights scribe Steve Niles and published through IDW Publishing."

THIS IS GREAT! I really like Steve Niles stuff...he did Criminal Macabre as well as 30 Days of Nights. I'm hoping this will be good. I love looking forward to comic book movies.

Thanks for checking that out at IMDB...
I need to pay another visit to the comic book stores... once upon a time, I used to know my comics, and now I'm not familiar with writers like Steve Niles... Sorry.
Those visits to the comic book stores always left me broke though.
Thanks for the latest news, info, and recommendations.

I heard somewhere that they will soon be coming out with a green lantern movie. I found some more info here.

I'm excited about the Venom movie. I heard that it's still in it's scripting stage but I expect that we will have a venom movies on our hands very soon. Venom is just so cool and he is a very deep character as far as comic book villians are concerned.

There is so much they can do, but I know that they'll end up making it an action film. I'd be deeply satisfied with an indie-film noir type film that actually goes in depth into the character of Eddie Brock or the history of the symbiote...but yea. Don't expect much on that end.

Marvel has the best movie adaptations except for Hellboy. Hellboy is the bext comic book movie ever made and I cannot wait for the sequl. And they are also making A Punisher 2 even though it was a flop.

I liked the Punisher movie, I think it had a lot of potential. I thought it was a good adaptation, because Punisher is a really hard movie to make. The comic is amazing, and living up to that puts a lot of pressure on you. I can't wait for it's sequal, because of the ideas I hear they will use. Plus, since the first was an introduction to the violence, I hear the second will be all out gore, and will be an amazing story.

I used to read Daniel Clowes's Eightball (along with some of his other works), but the storyline in Ghost World the movie was too different from the comic, my little mind couldn't handle the drastic changes; thus, I trudged out of the theater rather disheartened.
How was Catwoman? I still haven't seen it yet.
