I'm not gonna memorize all of these, but the ones that I know of are:

Ho-Oh: Phoenix (nothing special, that's just what it is)
Moltres: Another version of a Phoenix
Entei, Suicune, Raikou: Lions (but not Robot Lions, Voltron fans.)
Pikachu: Thunder Mouse
Mew, Mewtwo, Meowth, Persian, and about a dozen others: Cats
Teddiursa, it's evolved form, and Snorlax: Bears
Onix: Worm (huh... worm...)
Ekans and Arbok: Snake and Cobra spelled backwards
Seviper: Viper (Ludwig Von Koopa says it when he means swiper. Coincidentally, Team Rocket now has one.)
Cacnia: Cactus (yeah, tough one. I know.)
Groudon: Tarrasque
Kyogre: Leviathan
Rayquaza: Shenlong (Japanese Dragon)
Rukario: Rabbit
Regi: as close as Pokemon is probably ever going to come to actual Golems.
Porygon: An Origami Swan
Eevee, Vulpix and Ninetails: Foxes
