Competitive Battling in Gens 1 nd 2

    Maybe this is the wrong forum for this question so sorry in advance. I played gens 1 and 2 a lot when I was young and we would battle each other all the time. I understand EVs were different and there are is no breeding in Gen 1, so how was it done? Anyone battle competitively back in the day?
     
    If you are interested in learning older gens in a competitive aspect smogon has a bunch of articles and threads that could help and give you a decent amount of insight on older gens if you are interested.
