As this fits in with me buying all the previous DS games back, I was wondering if anyone actually battles competitively. If so, what kind of Pokemon team do you use (EV'd or not), where exactly do you come up with the idea of them (Smogon, etc.), what order (Tank, Sweep, etc.) and how exactly you came up with them. I'm planning to start doing this for each of my games in the future so I was wondering.

When I do make competitive-build teams, I generally rely on stall tactics to whittle away at my opponent's team and save my sweeper(s) for the end of the match to clean up. Toxic Spikes, Leech Seed, and Substitute are three moves I can't live without. ^_^

I generally begin by choosing my sweeper and build the rest of my team around what's synergetic with that pokémon.

Do you use only Pokemon that are EV'd for certain things? How exactly do you formulate a team and which Pokemon do you know to use?
