technically speaking, as a mana accelerator, the golem wins. the golem essentially stores 5 mana for you to use next turn. If you don't need it, just throw the 4/4 at them. Channel the suns is just a mana accel for 1 more mana, which is very weak for something costing 4 to begin with.
as a mana converter, channel the suns win. It's jsut that golem costs more than what it brings out.
as endurance, the golem wins. I mean, channel the suns is gone after casting, while the golem is still good for attack.
As variety, teh golem wins. It's just so happens that if you don't need the 5 coloured mana, you can still cast the golem to slap your opponent, where channel the suns is a dead card.
As searching, there are just more stuff that searches for creatures than sorceries. So the golem wins there.
Channel the suns is a rare while golem is uncommon.
T&N decks, IMHO, should run the golems instead of the channel the suns because you can T&N for them, meaning T&N won't be as easily a dead card.
So that's how I feel. Golem wins! :P
