I don't pay a whole lot of attention to who's over-used and who's under-used. I'm also not focused on making the most undefeatable team in the world. I'm not extremely competitive, though I do pay some attention to nature and EV's, and I try to train efficiently and plan out the most optimal movesets.
More than anything, however, I'm just playing through with my favorites.

    Here's my current team:
    Sandslash
    Typhlosion
    Bellossom
    Tentacruel
    Fearow
    Haunter

I'm fairly under-leveled as I'm playing through the game and I'm enjoying it a lot.
What do you guys think? Good team? Bad Team? I haven't used many others, though I'd like to start training more pokemon.

Oh, and I might ask for advice on a move-set or two. Would this be a good place to ask about it?

Typically you would post your movesets with your Pokemon so it would be easier to rate and add constructive posts. Right now all we can do is rate based on base stats and types your main threats would be Water/Psychic/Electricity as they each are super effective to 2 Pokemon but you have a Pokemon that has a type advantage to those types so at first glance your team seems pretty balanced. So all I can do is that until you post Current Movesets and Natures.

Sorry. That would have been useful information for me to provide...
Sandslash (Naughty) - Slash, Sandstorm, Defense Curl, Rollout
Typhlosion (Quirky) - Flamethrower, Lava Plume, Rollout, Swift
Bellossom (Modest) - Giga Drain, Moonlight, Sleep Powder, Sludgebomb
Tentacruel (Timid) - Water Pulse, Poison Jab, Toxic Spikes, Screech
Fearow (Impish) - Drill Peck, Roost, Mirror Move, Assurance
Haunter (Hasty) - Shadow Ball, Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Curse

I may or may not give my Sandslash "Earthquake" at some point and I'm not sure if I'll want to replace Haunter's "Curse" with "Nightmare" (any advice?). Also, I have a secondary team and some that I might occasionally exchange my main party members with. Would this be the place to list that second team?

First things first Drop Sandstorm since you have no other pokemon that are immune to it. Second on the Curse issue I tend not to use it as it takes 1/2 your life away for a pretty good chunk of damage each turn, it doesn't seem worth it in-game (are you able to evolve Haunter?)I would teach it Sucker Punch/Dark Pulse instead (My Opinion). As for Fearow I would drop Assurance and teach it Steel Wing in case it ends up fighting a rock type somehow this way it has an effective move.
Also yes you could post your Secondary team here as well it would be easier anyway.

I'll probably end up losing Sandstorm for Earthquake, actually. The self-inflicted damage caused by Curse usually isn't a problem, since the opponent is usually asleep and drained just afterward (via Dream Eater). Actually, it's thanks to Curse that my level 40-something Haunter took out half of Lance's team. It's kind of my tank-killing trump card. I'm not sure if Nightmare would be just as effective. It would be nice to lose the penalty of Curse, but I don't like the requirement of the opponent having to be asleep.
I like the idea of replacing Assurance with Steel Wing. Is Steel Wing obtainable in TM form?
Oh, I suppose I could evolve my Haunter. Though I like Gengar, I prefer Haunter (aesthetically) and so far I'm not playing very competitively. So, while I may in the future, I don't currently wish to evolve my Haunter.

I know what you mean with the Haunter thing I've kept one up until Red but anyway yes Steel wing is a TM TM 47 to be exact easily obtainable if you have a 3rd gen game. Also you might consider replacing Slash on Sandslash with Crush Claw as it has 5 more power and the possibility of lowering the targets defense

I was playing with the idea of Sandslash knowing Crush Claw instead of Slash. I opted with Slash, however, because of the 100% accuracy and the critical chance increase.
I'll probably get the Steel Wing TM from a friend of mine. It would be good for my Fearow to know.

For my other team and those who might sometimes be used in place of those in my main team, I'm training:
Steelix (Lax) - Iron Tail, Screech, Crunch, Stone Edge
Furret (Docile) - Dig, Sucker Punch, Rest, Defense Curl / Return
Kingler (Serious) - Crabhammer, Metal Claw, Mud Shot, Stomp
Kangaskhan (Impish) - Dizzy Punch, Outrage, Reversal, Sucker Punch / Crunch
Gyarados (Hardy) - Ice Fang, Aqua Tail, Thrash, Dragon Dance?
Umbreon (Docile) - Dark Pulse, Confuse Ray, Moonlight, Last Resort / Return
Espeon (Mild) - Psychic, Morning Sun, Swift?, ???
Absol (Serious) - Slash, Psycho Cut, Sucker Punch, Swords Dance
Marowak (Naughty) - Headbutt, Endeavor?, Focus Energy?, Bonemerang / Bone Rush
Lapras (Docile) - Ice Beam, Confuse Ray, Water Pulse, Body Slam

I'm not sure which TM I'll want to teach my Espon. I'm looking at these: Sunny Day, Light Screen, Reflect, Shadow Ball

I'm looking for a female Combee to make a Vespiquen and I'm trying to breed a Houndour to know Thunder Fang.
