    there's one thing... use a new font, first of all, and move the text somewhere else. then, double click on the layer the text's on, and select stroke, and make it 1 pixel in size, and black for the color. then maybe an outer glow since the banner's dark. you want to make the text as fancy as possible. and also, add a border to it. to do this, double click the layer that has the bg, and select stroke. set the size to 1 pixel, color to black, and set it to inside.
     
    i don't see a difference... o.o look at the Graphics Academy, i edited it for you to show you what you should do. ^^,
     
    It's nice, but you can easily jazz it up a bit with a few effects. ^^

    Just duplicate the layer, set the blend mode to Lighten, and use Filter > Distort > Wave or Filter > Distort > Twirl, and repeat by duplicating the base layer again and doing the same thing again (using different settings or whatever).
    Just a few simple effectish things, I hope I helped~ ^^
    I know it wasn't the effect you were actually aiming for but I thought it looked interesting. XD

    on the first one, it looked to sharp, and like... 'hand drawn'... o.o so you'd need to make it a little bit more abstract..
