A somewhat late poem in dedication to Mother's Day.

Dear Mother

In the hospital, I was born,
Just moments before the next morn.

My eyes opened and saw the new world,
And yet more things were to be unfurled.

At home, you provided me warmth and love,
And you said my voice was that from a dove.

Throughout the years, I grew to a greater height,
I went to school, and learned how to read and write.

You were proud whenever I did good,
And you always believed that I would.

You lectured me whenever I did wrong,
And helped my heart to be pure and strong.

Many years passed, and now I am almost grown,
My childhood days have gone and swiftly flown.

All these years, you have given me care,
A special thank-you I want to share.

For you have done so much just for me,
And inside, we are both filled with glee.

Even though we may not be with each other,
You are and always will be my caring mother.
