I'm just getting into Pokemon again, and I saw that the new Diamond/Pearl packs are coming out soon. i also just went to a yugioh pre-release this weekend for the new Force fo the Breaker pack. i know that with yu-gi-oh, almost every new pack changes the way you have to play the game, and that there's not just like 3 or 4 decks that all the pros play with. i was wondering if it's similar with pokemon, where every new release changes the game, or if it would be worth it to just get some older packs now and build my deck up instead of waiting for Diamond/Pearl. what would you suggest i do with my money for pokemon?

Well, D/P is bringing a whole generation's worth of pokémon into the mix, and I think they also revamped the weakness/resistance system? Yeah, from my uninformed point of view that looks like a pretty major set. However, the same goes for Force of the Breaker. I mean, the sky scourges are like Chaos Emperor Dragon and Chaos Sorcerer reborn, and one of them is basically Spell Canceler and Jinzo in one card. o.o Also, there's the crystal beasts which have been hyped up as being a theme with actual potential for competitive play, not to mention the field searchers and a bunch of cool support cards. And of course, there's the volcanic burn line too, if you're into that sort of thing. So yish, both seem pretty big in their respective TCGs. I guess you'll have to give some thought as to which TCG is more important to you. It's times like these that make me happy I'm out of that loop. Good luck with your pulls regardless of which one you decide on. ^-^

this was awesome alter ego, thanks for the great explanation. how are you so knowledgable if you're not doing both? I bet you're a closet yugioh and pokemon hardcore gamer at the same time:laugh:

Hah, I wouldn't say I'm that knowledgeable about the current state of the pokémon TCG (I mean, I didn't even know they had demoted dark to a basic energy type). Common sense and a few peeks at the previews around here are the extent of my pokémon TCG knowledge, so I guess I'm a closet pokémon TCG-follower and out-in-the-open YGO fan. ;D
