Did Ash ever meet back up with Pidgeot or Butterfree?

    Just curious, I havent watched it for years but I was so let down when I was a kid and he done that, wot a fool :\
     
    No, Ash never did meet back with Pidgeot or Butterfree nor did he go back for Primeape.
     
    In an opening he did. Though Butterfree just flew by him as he was falling down with May & co. on their way to meeting the ground.

    In short? No. Not yet.

    ffff. They already answered the question, but I'm going to get this out anyway.

    I really wish he would've at least gone back to get Pidgeot.

    Even if he kept for five episodes, and then sent it back out to Johto. ; ;
     
    He never did, and it's actually kind of annoying. Every time Ash gets good Pokemon early on in the show, he just turns them loose. -_-'

    Of course. I'm sorry foor ever thinking I was right about something as simple as this. I'm such an idiot. Really, i am. This can be any random Butterfree and I should've known that. I'm so silly. Now that I look at it, it doesn't even look like Ash's old Butterfree.

    Either way, opening clips are not canon. Characters that never show up are often used in opening clips (Max and Misty have all been in openings for Sinnoh).

    Now yes it's obviously Ash's old Butterfree in that clip, but isn't that part of Spurt, where the entire point is to highlight all of Ash's Pokemon?

    Right, which is why I said in an opening. Right below that sentence I clealry gave the answer no that he hadn't. See:

    The Pikachu Company produces the movies. The anime ongoing series is a completely different company. They probably share some staff (of course, the voice actors), but they generally act as two different bodies. To plan a return of a main character's Pokemon in 5 seconds of a movie (which ignores a main character's Pokemon 95% of the time in favor of the featured Legendary) would be idiotic. The people who made up the theory that this is Ash's Pidgeot are the same idiots who thought Ash and Brock were leaving the series just because ONE poster only featured Dawn and no one else.
     
    I love to see both Butterfree & Pidgeot return someday in the series, especially Butterfree. I've felt so sorry for Butterfree in that episode when it leaves. That might be the reason why in the games, I don't get rid of Butterfree. We've seen Ash's other Pokemon return like Squirtle & Charizard return, why not both Butterfree & Pidgeot?

    Unlike many others, Butterfree was released. Pidgeot has a specific goal of protecting the flock. Many of the others often marked as releases are just "in training" and can be called upon at any time.

    Well, that makes sense. I haven't watched the older episodes for a long time, so I pretty much forgot that Butterfree was released. So does that mean Butterfree may not come back in the show?

    Even if he wasn't released, it's a 10+ year plot point. And unlike Pidgeot, which is technically unresolved, Butterfree's story is 100% done. He was Ash's first capture, and he made the decision to leave Ash to go be with other Butterfree.

    Pidgeot has a job to do. We don't actually know Pidgeot's job protecting the flock is done.

    Lapras was never his to begin with. That was like, Lapras' entire plot.

    Primeape is one of the numerous that's technically in training, but will never be heard from again. Aipom pretty much adopted many of Primeape's characteritstics anyway.

    Actually, that reminds me, didn't Ash make a similar promise to Butterfree about seeing it again someday (Ash mentioned something about telling his party that it went on a trip and it'll be back someday in "Bye Bye Butterfree.")?

    While I don't necessarily agree that it was never his to begin with, I at least am glad that you see the same logic I do in regards to Lapras and Larvitar (seeing how most people count Lapras as his despite it being essentially the same as Larvitar in terms of what Ash promised to do with it, even with the Poke Ball, which, if I must point out, doesn't guarantee ownership, as notified by Brock's Vulpix, despite explicitly being caught in Brock's pokeball, was still considered Suzie's pokemon.)

    Well, technically, the Japanese version hinted at a release more (although it still seemed to be included with all of the "Oak'd/training" pokemon in Spurt for some reason.), but yeah.
