Did you stop buying pokemon games at any point?

Nah. I don't buy every single Pokemon game that comes out (I don't care for probably half of the spinoffs), but I'm not gonna quit buying the new games anytime soon... I wasn't particularly pleased with most of the Pokemon designs in Gen4, but I still bought the games and enjoyed them.

However, I used to get both of the versions released when a new generation came around (I got Ruby AND Sapphire, Diamond AND Pearl, etc...). I think now though I'm just gonna get one, maybe the other later when prices go down if I have a reason to. I originally planned on getting both HeartGold and SoulSilver, but I'm doing fine with just SoulSilver. If there's a version exclusive I want I can just trade with someone who has the other version. *shrug*
 
I started playing R/B/Y when I was 12 and continued with G/S/C. By the time the remakes/third gen came out I was 14/15 and had pretty much moved on from Pokemon. Plus I didn't have my own money at that point so I couldn't buy a GBA even if I wanted to.
Then about two years ago I saw screen shots for D/P and was ridiculously excited about how much it had changed in 7/8 years so I marched myself down to the nearest electronics store and bought a DS and Pokemon Diamond. Haven't looked back.

I'll continue buying Pokemon, I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm almost 22, have a full-time job and friendships to maintain but I'll still find an hour or two in which to play my beloved Pokemons every now and then. I just love it :)

I buy the main Pokémon games. I bought Pearl, Platinum and Soul Silver. I downloaded Platinum(yeah, again :P), Heart Gold, Ranger 1 & 2, Mystery Dungeon(s) ROMs and played them with my AK2i.
 
Stopped playing pokemon after crystal due to the fact pokemon was not popular anymore. then i found emulators for my pc to replay the games and then i found out that gold and silver were being remade, i went and bought a DS and Pt, a month before the HGSS was released. Now i am waiting for black and white.
 
On Gen IV. I didn't like new Pokemon. But after HG/SS came I got back to it and bought HG and Pt.
