Ditto sucks!

    I finally caught a ditto

    Tried to do a gym battle & got OHKO by OP Rhydon as soon as it transformed :(

    Anyone had better success?
     
    Why would you fight with that pokemon?

    In the original games he has some very special purposes that have nothing to do with fighting. I dont know the details but i think its related to breeding.
     
    Ditto, competitively speaking, has always been a pure gimmicks Pokémon since 1996. Its only real use came in Gen. II onward with breeding and further expanded as the mechanic was fine-tuned in later years.

    I'm more amused that you're surprised at the results ^_^

    Pokémon GO uses all the base stats found in the core series games. Ditto was always terrible to begin with for battles. Its status is no different in GO.
     
    I just wanted to test out the transform in battles & expected to get creamed just not before I could barely finish transforming
     
    If that's the case, double dodge on first move since that's the only time in any Gym battle when the AI will launch quick moves in rapid succession. Transform itself is a quick move with only a slightly longer cast animation than any of Rhydon's (Mud Slap/Rock Smash). You can manually dodge both if you wanted to before using Transform.
