Challenge specially for the rich folks
If you have a microphone and a recording program (idk what you kids use nowadays, audacity?) (it's funny because I'm not old) try this!
What I want you to do:
-Real an accent. (it's like faking an accent, but with the difference that you're actually trying to be accurate and/or this is another way you speak)
- In the recording, state first of all what accent you are trying to do (in the accent!)
- preface your words by telling us how the accent differs from Standard English (BBC accent for Europe, Hollywood accent for US, etc.) and if applicable, various sayings and such.
- Say a couple of sentences that exemplify the differences and compare it to the Standard accent.
- If you're more comfortable in another language, go ahead and do that, but remember to provide subtitles! Not everyone speaks your language, you know, stuff.
- If you would, please talk about your culture and how that relates to why you talk the way like you do. If you get a bit off topic don't worry! This isn't like a college essay or anything so you can talk about Colonization for all I care, just make it interesting :)
- If you could and would, get some of your friends together! You know, for science.
- Also, if you would like, try an accent you've never done before and have people rate you on how "accurate" it is :p life's always a little more fun when you can imitate people for fun :)
I'll try to get one up of myself in the future, but that depends on how empty the house is :p (I don't want to have my parents catch me faking a Scottish accent lol)
