I think I'm positive that your deck is over the 50 cards limit I tend to set on everything. If so, it would be a good suggestion for you to lower your deck card count to abotu 40-45. Taht would let you DRAW that mystical elf much faster than normal. And that's a good thing. :P

meh dont limit your deck amount just use cards that let you draw more like pot of greed and graceful charity limiting your deck amount dont solve anything its pre luck :P and thats a pretty good deck you got a heap of cards i got :P

Actually, the reson to limit your deck count IS so you can draw it as quickly as possible.

e.g. if you have 50 cards in your deck and you are running 1 pot of greed and 1 graceful charity (restricted, both), you really won't be even DRAWING the pot of greed or graceful charity half the time (each having a 2% chance of being drawn every time).

If you have 40 cards with those two, each of them will have a 2.5% chance of being drawn. Of course, it seems like a 0.5% difference isn't that much, but when you get to even higher numbers, your chances decrease at such a rate that it's practically impossible for you to draw those guys to get what you need.

Oh a limit of decks makes a HUGE difference when you deck runs on a specific card (e.g. Clown/Swarm Control decks). Even that small decimal place means that you're drawing the card 1 turn sooner, meaning you set up 1 turn faster, meaning you take beatings 1 turn less. Tho on the streets with kids around, 1 turn isn't anything, but when you get to even casual players, 1 turn can mean CED + Witch (search for yata)...game over.

And guys, TCGs aren't pure luck, that's why pro tour (Magic/Duel Masters) works.

Of course, you can disregard everything I say because it's not my choice that you don't want to listen to people and think you're the best in the world. I'm only here because the good players (e.g. Alakazam) aren't here and need some sort of a substitute. I'm mathematical and think of these only as probability. Then again, I'm also pure Johnny...

-_-' so let me guess you think your good at every card game and you can rule over everybody -_-' i know for a fact that people like that get there butts w00ped so watch it :P pika2 just put a few card drawing cards in there or cards that let you search your deck for a specific card and that shall do

No. I'm good at analyzing probablility of any card game, mainly because all TCGs have limits in card structure. For example, playing an affinity deck in magic has the probability of running the fireball turn in turn 4 about 5% of the time, and increases that to about 10% at turn 5. This often is countered by mono-red's turn 5 slogger with early burn. 12post requires 5 turns at least to set up, meaning that turn 6 is the earliest to set up.

In YGO, beatdown decks run at a speed that tries to take out the opponent in less than 7 turns. CED decks want to waste no time to set up the yata lock, earliest being turn 3 (perfect hand, running at like 0.1%). Discard doesn't care at all, since it can basically slow both decks down to a controlled level for discard to finish things off.

I would get my butt kicked by anyone, mainly because I don't even have 40 YGO cards in total (I'm counting..20 something?). You see, I play only pokemon (old skool), Magic, proxy YGO, and proxy Duel Masters only. This means that I play in an environment where raigeki is as common as sliced bread. It's a place where 1 turn lost means certain death. It's a place with no mercy. I'd be lucky if I pull out the MoP combo 1 out of 10 games.

Having said this, I know for a fact that tourney-style decks need 40 cards maximum to operate at an efficient speed. Ask ANY tourney player and they will tell you that. They might not know the mathematics behind it, but they know that 40 card decks mean better chances at drawing the CED or that delinquent duo.

And specific card-searching cards (known as tutors) don't exist very much in YGO. The tutors either are monsters with low stats (sonic bird), or crappy magic (fusion sage). With choices such as that, running them would be a waste of time most of the time. Obviously they are good for deck thinning, but they tend to drag most decks down with the fact that you're having ONE less slot for something useful, like anotehr goblin attack force or something. Yes it's a good idea in most situations, but sometimes the circumstances don't allow it.

And when did I ever say that "I'm the best at YGO and nobody can beat me"? I've been talking abotu probability all along. But I do get the sense that you (fudge) haven't played a single big-time tourney deck that basically murders everyone else (aka the CED and discard decks). You should really try to face them some time, since they can be a real boon to your strategic thinking (no, I learn to strategically think and bluff from magic, when I faced against psychatog at its finest...then astral slide at its finest...then the original affinity at its finest...).
