Okay, this is a story I'm writing with crystal, its a inside story of sorts and is about us and our dragon adoptable dragons, the older dragon is called Akane and is a fire dragon, the next dragon was female and a water dragon.
the chapters are relatively short.
Chapter 1 - Newcomer
Akane looked up as Cryst and Mal struggled inside, both carrying something quite heavy. They bustled around, grabbing a few rags and moving them into place with their foot before placing whatever it was down.
"We've got a surprise for you," Cryst chirped merrily.
"Get that thing out of here," Akane spat before returning to preening her scales. "There's no room for another dragon."
"How'd you know that's what it was?" Mal asked, removing the heavy blanket protecting the top of the large brown shell. If you watched it, it actually moved a bit. No doubt there was a baby dragon inside.
Akane looked distastefully at the egg on the ground.
"The aura coming off of that thing is so weak, it'll likely die."
"It won't die!" Crystal cried, clutching the egg. "I won't let it!"
"Now now, it'll be alright." Mal soothed, He turned to Akane. "Listen now, we'll be away in the market for a few days... You'll have to watch over it until we return."
"Lovely." She snorted.
"Please, Akane." Cryst looked up into her ruby eyes. "Please watch it."
"And the camp, too. Remember, we're trusting you." Mal added.
Akane flicked her tail, the only response she was willing to give.
With no more, Cryst and Mal picked up their packs and left.
Akane watched outside the cave as they left, walking straight towards the setting horizon. Then she walked back inside and settled back into her designed spot. Another breath of flames renewed the fire, flickering off the walls with a merry orange glow.
She glared across the room as the large brown intrusion. Since when did she share her cave with anyone? For so long, she had been the sole care and attention of the two humans, and she relished in it. Here she was, a young adult fire dragon, almost old enough to leave on her own, and yet the love, (and easy food,) made her want to stay. She would never leave this place.
But that egg will.
"This is my home," she insisted aloud.
Strangers would not be tolerated...
