    so i was just thinking...what do you think is the dumbest/most pointless evolution of all time.

    your answer can be on looks, stat increases, etc. etc. as long as you can justify your reasoning. :)

    i'll start off with a dumb evolutions creativity in the looks department.

    poliwhirl -> poliwrath

    seriously, it got a little bit bigger, and...well thats basically it.

    give me your ideas :)

    winner willl get a happy point from me :P
     
    Scyther -> Scizor has always been weird for having the same base stat total just reallocated.

    Poliwhirl -> Politoed is weirder than Poliwhirl -> Poliwrath imo...Politoed looks completely different from the rest of the Poliwag family. >_>

    ...and then there's always Feebas -> Milotic, but I guess that's supposed to symbolize the myth of the ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan. >_>
     
    I don't understand how Dragonair evolves into Dragonite.
    Dragonair is a cute little snake and dragonite is this big jolly oaf.

    Poliwhirl > Politoed?

    What the hell. Poliwhirl is a... Iunno, but not a frog. So where the hell did this frog come from?

    Well,I always wondered,how in heck can Magikarp evolve into Gyarados?!
     
    The Tyranitar line is a little odd at times.

    I mean Lavitar and Tyranitar look alike, but Pupitar just sticks out.

    I guess it's supposed to be the life cycle of a pupating insect...but come to think of it, Larvitar doesn't look anything like a pupating insect. >_<

    Shelgon for that matter too...

    While I like several of the 4th Gen evolution add-ons (Weavile, Electivire, and Mamoswine come to mind), some of them are completely ridiculous. I'm looking at you Tangrowth, Probopass, and Lickilicky. Rhyperior is all right, but its body is too fat to look particularly badass.
     
    Well first off..

    Magikarp to Gyarados makes sense. Someone posted a link to the mythology above.

    Feebas to Milotic is as someone mentioned, kind of like an ugly duckling becoming a beautiful swan.

    Poliwag and Poliwhirl are tadpole Pokemon..and what do tadpoles become? Hence Politoed makes sense. Poliwrath on the other hand...is just a beefed up Poliwhirl.

    Larvitar - Pupitar does not make sense to me. I don't understand why it needs a pupa stage.

    Bagon - Shelgon makes sense. Bagon's dream is to fly, and in it's shell stage, it grows wings.

    In my opinion, one of the worst evolution ideas is

    Lickitung - Lickilicky

    I just don't think it makes sense. Then again, we're talking about Pokemon haha.

    I seriously can't see any real physical difference between Lickitung and Lickilicky, prompting me to ask....what's the point of giving Lickitung an evolution?
     
    Seriously... Did they have to make Chansey even fatter?
    Fail. Pokemon aren't supposed to get fatter!
     
    Lickilicky. It completely ruined Lickitung. The old gens had one non-Moon Stone Normal-type with higher Special Attack than Attack, and what does Nintendo do? Make it a crappy Kangaskhan and take away his tail. Also, it looks like a big ****ing walking piece of bubblegum. Go ****ing hang yourself, Lickilicky, no one wants you.

    i mean, sure... it's cute, as a matter of fact it's my favorite eeveelution, but: HOW DOES IT MAKE SENSE THAT IT DOESN"T EVOLVE THROUGH A LEAF STONE?!?!?! o.O
