Good day , for some this might be a stupid question , but ; is it possible for a gbc game to change the pointer of the border tileset ? If so , is it possible mid-gameplay or only after some transitions ? I have seen roms with white (or FF ?) borders/tiles , and these tiles also get used in a fade transition , so in context of pkmn I would think make the border white until inside a house or cave and than switch to black would look more immersive , than the default borders.

Additionally ; the border is also a tileset , depending on the time to draw these offscreen tiles (probably host hardware dependent)
this could be used to extend the screen in menus and maybe also on the overworld. Use case would be a semi fullscreen GBA version of these games , what do you think ?

I'm not too familiar with the gbc but assuming that you're talking about the SGB border, this page might be useful to you.
