I have combed this section carefully, and I have not found anything covering this (at least, nothing that's still valid to post in) so i';m making this

This is just a discussion thread for anything Oblivion-related, b it shivering isles, knights of the nine, or even just base oblivion.

I shall open up with a topic: Why do You play Oblvion?

I play it because it's one of the most fun games EVEr. beats halo 3 by a long shot. And because I like feeling like I'm in control of my life, rather than just doing what somebody (whether it be the government, my parents, or any higher power) has laid out for me to do.

    So, get chatting, people!

I dont think it is better than halo, they are too different to compare.
I play it for the indepth quests, the satisfaction of completing a questline and the sheer chaos you can create (Frenzy 100ft for 1 minute FTW)

Oh and you get to hit stuff :)

i didn't really like halo, but i didn't hate it. i'm just tired of people sayign it;s the best game ever. but I digress.

I loved doing some of the quests, in particular the thieves guild. It may sound wierd, but during the Ultimate Heist quest, i set up my computer (i have to play oblivion on another computer, my ol' rustbucket can't handle it) to play the mission impossible theme. Wierd, innit?

Lol i HATE the final heist, took me 2 hour cuz it was so fiddly :|
Gimme Dark brotherhood quests and im well away :)

And yeah halo 3 is the best multiplayer game ever, campaign leaves a lot to be desired

yeah, DB was pretty fun, too. But I'd take thieves guild over it any day. I'm not attacking dark brotherhood, though. The black hand robes do make thieving a lot easier, after all. I usually just steal 'em form that guy in bruma, but it's a lot safer to get your own, cause you don't have to keep recovering them.

I only had trouble with the heist the first time, every other time it was really easy. I also went and used a lot of fortify health spells so i could keep the boots of springheeled jack, and i think it was well worth it, too. a 50 point acrobatics bonus is very useful...

If you want fun, run into the mage's guild with necromancer robes on :P
:O i thought you had to use the boots! Grrrrrr
I managed the heist first time, i just found it extremely complicated
I love some of the random mini quests on shivering isles though lol

the game tells you to use the boots, but if you have acrobatics of around 35 and a lot of fortify health stuff, you can survive the fall without the boots, which lets you keep them, rather than automatically removing them from the inventory.

i love everything about shivering isles. It was definitely the most awesome of all the places to go.

ever been fan-jumping? (almost every player has at one point. fan-jumping is what some people call the act of shoving the adoring fan off dive rock...)

No i must try that, and yeah shivering isles is a bit rocking. Im plannin on downloadin g the orrery/wizards tower off xbox live

New question: Best race and why?

best race.... that's a tough one.... but.... i have to cast my vote for.... Argonian. They've always been my favorite TES race, they make for pretty flexible characters, and of course the posion immunity is a nice bonus... not to mention they just look awesome if you can get the right face and stuff.

And water breathing, cant forget that :)
Na its gotta be the ork, brutality in a box
I happen to e an ork with 100 destrction and restoration which always helps :)
My full title is lord-master-listener-archMage-sheogorath-azhag, champion of cyrodil and knight of the thorn :)
    Did i miss any out?

Myself I don't really have a real favorite race, However I prefer playing Breton, Khajiit and Redguard players and then to avoid playing Orcs, Bosmer, and Dark Elves.

For best race I think Redguard. Argonians did get some changes after Morrowind which made them more playable so they are reasonably good. The races are far more balanced then in Morrowind, where nords were rather overpowered and beast races sucked.

I wish I still had the game *sigh* It got lost at a relatives place, and when something is lost there, it sorta disappears forever...

argh, i hate it when things disappear. especially things like oblivion.

yeah, morrowind was way unbalanced. nords got too much and beasties didn't get enough.

    my full title.... let's see.... Lord-Gray Fox-Guildmaster-theif-sheogorath-hero of cyrodiil-grand champion-slayer-of-the-adoring-fan... lol

I never really got around to doing main storyline very far. Like with Morrowind I liked to download custom plug-ins and play. I wasn't one for storyline because I just like to muck about a lot.

i have to admit, just messing around is pretty fun.

I kinda like using deadly reflex with combustive convulsion to try and imitate Lucy from Elfen Lied. it's fun....

speaking of which, new topic: Do you play with any custom plugins? And if so, Which ones are your favorites?

Ah yes, gray fox and champion need adding
(in other words im at the top of every guild :P)
Has anyone seen what happens when you clone 400 watermelons in an market district shop? I got stuck in there :P

lol, lucky you. i could never get all the way through anything but theives guild (mostly because i'm too lazy to do all this run-and-gun stuff, i'm more the sneaky type.) and the arena. i generally do this first thing, i need marksman training, plus the armor (although i never use it unless i get in a fight) plus a little extra gold is always good, no?

i'll admit, i don't play 100 percent fair. i'll generally have a nice heal on touch spell plus maxed out difficulty to get in a rediculous amount of training off of agronak (ALWAYS do the origin of the gray prince quest first. makes life a lot easier.) but, in the immortal words of jack sparrow, "Take what ya can, give nothin' back!"

    Best way to kill agronak:
    Volendrung
Its a dareic artefact gotten from a pretty simple quest (Google UESP wiki for an oblivion-based wikipedia) . Every hit paralyses for 3 seconds. Ive timed that each charged strike hits 4 seconds later than the last. That leaves him time to get up before he's hit again. If you have charged soul gems this strategy will get you through any single-combat you fight in.
Of course if you try this while they have henchmen, say bye bye health cuz you dont have time to stop :)

i know all about uesp, it's saved my butt a couple of times.

it may be the best way to kill him, but i like to get as much out of it as i can. so i do the origin thingy so he won't fight back, and then amp up the difficulty and use him as free target practice with lots of health. and heal him up whenever he gets too low, and you've got yourself some easy levels...

Best place for free practice is peryite's shrine

There are people there who are unconcious and unkillable (Until you perform his quest) Just tape the attack button down and go to school, and come back to the "you are expert/master/whatever" screen :)
I have maxed blade and hand to hand thanx to these fellers (I already had max blunt :P)

wow, thanks for the tip. i'd never thought to do that... ahh well. i'll have to give that a shot. after, that is, i go shove annoying fanboy off dive rock again.
