4th Gen EV Confusion

    I recently decided I was going to EV Train a Trapinch, and raise it all the way to a Flygon. So, once I managed to hatch one with the nature I wanted (Lonely), I immediately fed it 10 Protein (or whatever vitamin it is that raises attack) and 10 Carbos (To raise its speed).

    Now, at level 20, here are its stats:

    HP: 48
    ATK: 60
    DEF: 24
    SP. ATK: 23
    SP. DEF: 27
    SPEED: 16

    What the hell...? I gave it 100 Speed EVs! Surely it's speed should be in the high 20s, shouldn't it?

    I feel this may be due to Trapinch being slow to begin with, which raises the question: Will I start noticing an increase in speed when it becomes a Vibrava, or did I blow those 98,000 bucks on Carboses for nothing?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.
     
    i've researched this myself. here's what i've learned:

    from Lv. 1 to 30, it will gain +5 to +10, from Lv. 31 to Lv. 50, it will gain +10 to +15, and from Lv. 51 to Lv. 100, it will gain +15 to +20. i hope i could help! :D
     
    Trapinch has a base speed of 10, so it's obviously going to be slow. But you haven't wasted your EVs, they'll still carry over when it evolves, but you'll only see the full effects when you reach level 100.
     
    yep, the key is patience! as a Professor, i've had to learn that. but its worth it every step of the way!
