Ok sorry if i posted in wrong place, ok i'm figuring out how to ev train very slowly..so i'm goin to want to discuss ev training & want help also so dont lock this cuz i dont think this belong's in quick question thread.first question -i capture a slowpoke evolved it into slowking i have'nt trained it,so i went to the old chateau place with gastly's & started training my slowking & battle 16 gastly's so does that mean i gain 4 effort values? hes has pkrs if that matters.. so once i understand ev training we can discuss strategies, hotspots ect..

You should have 32 EVs in Special Attack assuming your Slowking wasn't holding any items. Gastly gives out 1 EV in Special Attack per fight. Since you had Pokerus, then you earned 2 EVs for every Gastly you fainted.

However, if Slowking was holding a Macho Brace or any of the Power items, then the results will be different.

Since you battled 16 Gastly with Pokerus, you gained 32 sp. atk EVs since each Gastly gives 1 sp. atk EV and Pokerus doubles it.

Every 4 EVs in a stat makes that stat 1 point higher at lv. 100 than it would without it. With 32 sp. atk EVs, now your Pokemon's Sp. atk stat at lv. 100 will be 8 points higher at lv. 100 than what it would be without those EVs since 32/4 = 8.

    As for hotspots:
HP: Route 205 (Bidoof and Shellos; 1 HP EV each)
Atk: Route 207 (Machop; 1 Atk EV each)
Defense: Oreburgh Gate (Geodude; 1 Def EV each)
Sp. atk: Old Chateau (Gastly; 1 Sp. atk EV each)
Sp. def: Surfing (Tentacool; 1 Sp. def EV each)
Speed: Ravaged Path (Zubat; 1 Speed EV each)

As for strategies, this post does a pretty good job of summarizing it.

    Need any more help?

4 EVs = 1 stat point. Since you battled 16 Gastly's with a Slowpoke that has Pokerus and each Gastly gives you 1 Special Attack EV, your Slowpoke should have 32 Special Attack EVs by now.

Just like what jpp8 said, with 32 Special Attack EVs, your Slowking's Special Attacl stat at lv. 100 will be 8 points higher than what it would be without those EVs since 32 divided by 4 is 8.

You can EV train by battling trainers too.

Anyway, it's best that you read the link jpp8 posted, it has pretty much everything you need to know about EV training.

is there any way to count the ev's in one stat of a level 100 pokemon>? umm & when your ev training, you know how stats start going +4 +5 +6 ect.ect.. when you battle that pokemon for whatever stat criteria & it only gives you +3 does that mean your done ev training for that stat?

Dude, you made this thread a year ago. If you have any more questions, please use a simple Q&A depending on what game you need the help on. Don't revive threads over a month old, please. This one is over a year old, so it's a big no-no.

    Locked.
