EV Training: Wild or Hatched?

Which is better to EV train wild Pokemon, hatched Pokemon or both? Some people say hatched Pokemon learn moves faster. Some say that one of the parents' IVs is given to the hatched Pokemon but that doesn't make sense because you can just EV train the parent (considering it hasn't already gotten EVs). I'm confused, can someone help me settle this?

There's not much difference at all. The only reason people prefer to EV train hatched pokemon is because they have more control over IVs than catching a pokemon in the wild, and there's also the issue of egg moves that are only acquired by breeding a pokemon.

I have no idea where you heard that hatched pokemon learn moves quicker because they really don't. o_0;

EVs and IVs don't have anything to do with each other. If you EV train a parent it won't affect what IVs it passes on to an egg. People like to EV train hatched Pokémon as opposed to a wild Pokémon so they can hand-pick a bred Pokémon which has the nature and IVs (and egg moves) they want.

I didn't say they had anything to do with each other. The point I was trying to make is that if the hatched Pokemon ends up with the same IVs of one of the parents, why not just train the parent? But I guess in some cases the parent isn't the species the trainer wants or it doesn't have the right moves etc.

No, the hatched Pokemon will inherit some of its IV's from the mother, some of them from the father, and others will be determined randomly. Because of this, it's possible to get offspring with better (or worse) IV's than either parent.

I prefer to EV train hatched Pokemon because I can make sure I get one with excellent IV's as well as any egg moves I may want.
