6th Gen EV training with hordes when, all of a sudden, a shiny appears!

    So as the title says, I was training Bagon's Attack on some Scraggy hordes, while dismissing the gulpin ones. Suddenly, a horde of gulpins appear with a shiny one.
    Here were my two reactions :
    -woohoo, my first shiny!
    -oh no, I have the macho brace on and Pokerus! I'll gain 20 HP EVs from catching this fool! (since you have to faint the others before you can chuck a ball).
    Needless to say, I did capture it. I then had to slap a reset bag on Bagon and retrain it from scratch...

    This was when I really wished the EV suppressing berries were present in this game...
    Has this happened to anyone else? The bitter-sweet shiny encounter :|

    I haven't accidentally run into one yet, but I have found two shinies while hunting in hordes specifically. A wingull and a mareep. (The mareep was what I was aiming for, got the wingull first) That sucks you had to reset your Bagon's EV's though!!
     
    Aha that sucks. I prefer to use Super Training & Training Bags for EVs though, after raising the EVs to 100 using vitamins. Much quicker for me. I've yet to come across a Horde Shiny, though I have found 2 Shinies in the Friend Safari by accident already (as well as a Shiny Emolga from Wonder Trade).
     
    Yeah, I don't know what's with my RNG, today. I caught that gulpin and then a shiny Smeargle and Audino at the FS, while leveling Bagon (luckily, he was fully trained, by then?!
    Three shinies in a day!!!
    When you think about it, hordes =Masuda Method. Both make it 5 times more likely to find a shiny.

    This happened to me last night while I was training larvesta, I ran into a shiny yanma. I just sent out larvesta and let it get pummeled by all of them so it wouldn't get any xp/ruin my EV spread, before I caught it.
    Another thing to note are that the EV reduction berries are in the game, they're available through berry mutation, check here for more info: https://www.serebii.net/xy/berryfields.shtml

    Also congrats on the shiny!
     
    Stiiiiiiilll waiting for that to happen to me. Haven't run into any shinies in this game yet (and probably won't, that is my luck.)
     
    That hasn't happened to me. If it did, though, I wouldn't be too worried about; I could've easily reset my game to the last saving point. Poof—problem solved!
