Most people say the best way is to rare candy your way to Lv 100 then EV train.. I'm wondering if it would work to just put an Exp Share on the Pokemon you want trained, then use a high level Pokemon to EV train somewhere and get Exp at the same time. This way you save on Rare Candy.

I know that most of the good EV spots have low level Pokemon and aren't worth much Exp, but if you wanted to save on Rare Candy it might be a good idea.

A good example could be to EV train for speed in Digletts Tunnel while getting your Lv 5 Pokemon to a higher level just to save on Rare Candy.

    Any thoughts on this?

This works best if you have Lv100 Pokemon, since they don't get any experience, so the rest goes to the person you're EV training. To make things easier, use a GS/AR to make your character only fight... Alakazam's for Sp. Atk, or Crobat's for Speed, then use it in like Route 1 or something, you'll get 3 EVs each time, but the Pokemon will be easy to beat. :P

If I used a GS/AR I wouldn't have an issue with lack of Rare Candy. If i used a GS/AR I wouldn't need to EV train seeing as how I could just give any Pokemon I wanted max stats and max IV. If I used a GS/AR the only questions I would have would be "What is the code for this..." If I used a GS/AR I would probably play LeafGreen for five days then get bored with the lack of a challange and the lack of randomness (which is an aspect that makes the game more enjoyable for me, no matter how frustrated I might feel sometimes. It's all about satisfaction in the long run for me)

Take your GS/AR and shove it.

    PS. Have a nice day.

    PPS. Jesus loves you.

dude, dont be a butthole.. Just get a team of meowths and go Rare Candy hunting.

No offense Prylace, but there is no point in discuss ''if is fun or not to use the GS/AR'', this a EV training cuestion, for everyone...

So, well, i belive a good method is use exp. share, or if the pokemon is strong enough to fight alone (like a fresh mewtwo lv. 70), you can try to get pokerus...or use the macho brace, so it will gain EV more easy...

Sorry I just have this thing against cheating... I'll try to keep it to myself I guess.

Anyway back to the point, the reason I'm discussing an alternate method to the Rare Candy thing is because I don't seem to be able to find many Rare Candy.

I walk around with 2-4 Meowth on me most of the time and I've found lots and lots of items.. no Rare Candy at all though. Almost all berries, and a fare amount of PP Up, and some Secret Power TMs.

It would probably take me longer to get the Rare Candies than it would to exp train and EV train at the same time, even if the exp is somewhat low. I would use Macho Brace but my game glitched somehow and I didn't get the Macho Brace after I defeated Giovanni... so I have to wait until I find someone to let me borrow their GB so I can trade my Macho Brace from Sapphire to LeafGreen.

I'll keep looking for good exp/EV spots.. maybe the Unknown Dungeon might have something worth looking into. As long as you can OHKO everything.. which shouldn't be a problem with the right Pokemon.

Well... I don't have a cheating device either. It just so happens that over 50% of people on this forum do have one, and I assumed that you might have one as well. Sorry for the mix-up.

If you go into the Unknown Dungeon, Kadabra can give you 2 EV in Sp. Atk, Chansey can give you 2 HP EVs (I think... :/), Machoke's with 2 EVs in Attack. There are more... but I can't remember right now. The UD is a good place, just make sure your Pokemon have the right levels to begin with. ^_^

Yeah and im completely agreed, i was lazy to get up my hitmonlee (with EV) his last two levels, i belived that meowth would help, but no, it only get berryes, and no rare candy, if i would use that time i would beat the elite four 2 or 3 times and get the experience, but i lost my time with the useless cat ??.

The only problem i see with the Dungeon in cerulean are THOSE WOBUFETS!!,if you don't carry something to scare em, you will end runing your training, and maybe fainted because of their destiny bonds...

Yeah even if you OHKO the Wobb it would just waste EV (unless you really want those Hit Point EP). Having Roar or Whirlwind on your Pokemon could solve things though. Or keeping a heavy supply of Pokedolls.. not sure if they would worth though.

i dont get it, meowths make u get items? how? a technique? or what? and whats EV?

Meowth (along with some other Pokemon) has a special ability called "Pickup" that gives them a chance to have a random item equipped on them after a battle (they don't have to fight in the battle they just have to be in your team)

EV is short for "Effort Value". I'm no good at explaining things so I'll just direct you to somewhere that can... https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/5715
