EV Training

In all of my years of playing Pokemon, I have not once EV Trained any pokemon. Is it possible someone could make me a complete guide on how to EV Train? I'd like to get into online battling and I know my stats won't match up to those who enhance theirs.

one of my friends on youtube a person i battled with knows how to EV train his pokemon very effectively in pokemon white and black its different and easier but in diamond and pearl heartgold soulsilver and platnium its the same i will show you the videos if you want?
