Mankind has colonized the stars. The early explorers launched themselves and their followers into the void with little or no idea of what the future would hold. Many were never heard from, until a genius named Omata Kane came to the fore.
Kane designed and orchestrated the construction of the Hypergate system. The Hypergates were a means of linking systems light-years apart with wormhole technology.
A great boom of colonization began, and the dark reaches of space were suddenly not so dark, nor so distant. The ruling body of humanity, the Colonial Council, grew rich from the colonies; the life?s-blood of the Council was the Hypergate system.
But the Colonial Council grew corrupt, and the sickness of that corruption spread through every layer of society. Pirate attacks became more prevalent, criminals flourished, politicians became military governors. The emasculated Council could do nothing.
Terrorists destroyed the Sol Hypergate and crippled the network. Overnight, entire systems were cut off from civilisation, and society was thrown into a state of anarchy.
Few could have foreseen the events that followed. Warlords arose, empires sprung up and collapsed just as quickly, and all the while the people of the galaxy suffered in a new dark age. Planets sank into feudal states, and much technology was lost, seemingly forever.
Yet from this chaos rose order. A newly reformed Council advanced faster-than-light technology, and slowly regained contact with the lost worlds of humanity. Over time, the core systems of human space formed a new ruling body: The Federation.
Life is now a cheap commodity in a dangerous universe. To the south lies the Auroran Empire, a savage race. The mysterious Polaris hold the east, while the north and west are unexplored?
On the Sirrusa Space Station, which used to be an orbital ore refinery before the ore ran out, lives a few remaining ?old salts? who couldn?t stand to leave and do their best at making a money of what remain of this once great refinery, usually buying stuff off travellers who don?t know the value of what they have and selling it to someone thinks its worth more than it really is. They were quite amazed to see a derelict ship drift passed the window, it?s design and origin they did not know, though this didn?t surprise them but the fact no one else knew either would of.
They had no trouble getting the ship and started the long, hard job of repairing it despite their lack of knowledge of spaceship mechanics, but if they did know what they were doing they would of seen many strange thing in the ships design.
It was no trouble for them to finding a buyer, in fact quite a few people from various different worlds within the federation pitched in some money to have part ownership of this ship, as the excitement of working on a spaceship is a great lure for many of today?s youth? Technically there would have been legal issues selling the ship to them as they most certainly lacked experience but a last minute investor certainly put an end to those problems?
You are one of those who help pay for the ship, soon you?ll arrive on Sirrussa Space Station to see the ship for the first time and met the others, perhaps wondering what great destiny awaits you in the blackness of space, perhaps wondering whether this was really such a good idea? The only thing that is certain is that you?ve spent too much money on this to just turn your back now.
It is too bad that there are so many things about the universe that the federation media, there is so few detail that are released for whatever reason:
All they say about the Auroran?s is that they are savages and their forces are building up near the border as if planning to mount an invasion? nothing is ever said about what they look like in person.
All they say about the Polaris is that they are a threat to our freedom, though actual incidences of violence that are mentioned are usually outside federation space?
Supposedly there is a group trying to undermine the government, a rebellion of sorts, that is also linked to most pirate raids on transport ships? though why they are doing such a thing remains a mystery.
They say the Vell-os are the only ally we have in this hostile galaxy, being a very valuable one, since they are all powerful telepaths, that we?ve had since our war with them? it is odd how they seem to have no planets in there possession and seem to merely work happily with the government when they are so powerful.
It is in rumours that you have to put your trust in when going for fine detail, though it is hard to distinguish truth from fiction? And knowing the truth is the only way to know what is the right thing to do, of course the question remains: Which is more important doing the right thing or personal gain?

Additional Rules
*Late sign ups will have to arrange with me how they are going to fit into the RPG as they will be unable to join up as an investor in the ship after it leaves Sirrussa Space Station.
*You may arrange mutiny if your character is unhappy with how the ship is being run, if that is still in character.
*Do not expect all the action to be ship to ship combat, there will be plenty to do inside the ship and on planets/space stations, as well as many negotiations.
*There is no set course that this RPG must follow, by refusing to do certain tasks you?ll just change the course of the whole RPG
*What goes around comes around, so don?t shove someone out the airlock without careful thought to it or your character may be following them soon enough.
This RPG is based on Escape Velocity Nova (Which does not belong to me in any way), though everything will be explained as we progress through the RPG and the mystery of the EVN universe will add to the fun of the RPG for those who have never heard of it before.
The bit of italics at the top is taking directly from Escape Velocity Nova, and is in no way my work
I will not reveal my character now; it?s to be a surprise up to the very last minute and even when the RPG what will appear to be my character will only be a very temporary one, my real character will come later as will the sign up for it.
