Yeah I visited Serebii and looked at their EV break down.. but I kinda have a question about it. I'm trying to understand how these things work..

So basically, my question is this.. does a pokemon still gain EVs even at lvl 100, or does it all come at a dead stop after that? Given that there are berries that remove EVs, I'd assume the idea is you can respec your crew at the end of the game if you wished otherwise they probably wouldn't have the berries touch EV stats.. but I'm not certain about it. Serebii doesn't really have much information on this.. just saying as long as theres EXP in the battle, you'll get EVs. Techincally you get EXP at lvl 100, they're just not uh.. counted? I'm assuming this is also how you get guys from trades at a low lvl to not suck.

Yeah kind of a tricky question. Anyway if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be awesome.

It comes to a dead stop. You absolutely cannot gain EVs at level 100 from battling. Only from Protein and the like.

As for experience at lv. 100, it's not counted yes, but it's not GAINED either. The definition of "gain" is "to increase", which is not happening to lv. 100 Pokemon when they are battling.

EV berries, although not explicitly stated for this purpose, are also useful in undoing any mistakes or miscounts that may have happened during EV training, so that's not the only reason.

You do get EVs at level 100 from battling, you just can't count them to your stats in any way so they're pretty useless.

    Ahhh I see. Makes sense.

I guess you'd have to go harass low lvl pokes for EVs to get guys you got in trades to matter later on. Kind of why I'm asking about this. I'd like to max out my Diamond Legendaries before I put them in HG SS, and I wanted to make sure what would be the best way of doing it.. like if getting them all the way to 100 is nesicarry or not or if I could get do it someplace else.

It doesn't matter what level you finish EV training, be it 1 or 99 (as long as it isn't 100), because they'll all get counted in at 100.

And with that answered, please use a Q&A thread next time. I know one of these kinds of questions spans over more than one game, but depending on which game you're doing this for, you could ask in the corresponding simple Q&A. Have a nice day.

    Locked.
