[Other] Exactly How Much Can One Shove Into a ROM Hack?

For the past month I have been working on a ROM hack where many, MANY things will be replaced, including all of the pokemon. I will also be replacing much of the tilesets (if not all), creating an entirely new and fun story, and will be replacing most of the music.

Is it possible to hit any barrier in the allotted memory when creating a ROM hack? If so, how much memory is there to work with, and is there a way to expand how much memory I can use?

Edit: Forgot to mention that the original ROM that I'm working off of is Fire Red.

There is a barrier but it is far off. I have seen many hack with up to gen 6 pokemon and over 3 region. And if you are replacing and overwriting things like old pokemon and the map then you proberbly won't also hit a wall. Also there is a tool call free space finder so it won't be hard o find space when you have used the bulk of offsets
    Hope this helps!

If you really, really need more space, I believe XSE has a rom expander that can increase the size to 32 MB. But like TOPT said, you probably won't ever have to expand it if you are smart about using the space you have, and if you are overwriting the old space that you don't use.
