fake cards?

when buying cards or trading what ways is there to tell if they are fake? if im paying a fair bit of money for a card or set i dont really want them to be fake

Check for a Set Symbol, such as the Promo Icon or the Team Rocket "R" to the lower right of the picture. Also compare the card to the actual card looking for any small difference. Search Bulbapedia as they have pictures of most cards if you search for them.

Thankfully, fake cards are waning due to less of a Pokemon Hype then when they first came out.
