Well, we all know the infamous Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Jade (just using the Pokemon name, not actually being a real game). But what other fake cartridges have you found ?
I have a fake GS 2in1 not saving. And this one's also curious ... :

    Spoiler:

That's actually not a Silver game. I got it from a friend and I thought it was a real one. The same goes for the GS2in1 which don't save. They're badly translated (Prof. Oak mentions PKMN Treinar ASH, the pkmn mestar !!1!!). The Silver isn''t a Pokemon, just a weird japanese tong (just like JD).

idk were you even go and buy these fake cartriges, i honestly just go to gamestop or something...
no really, maybe morph this post into saying WHERE you go to buy pokemon and where it has been fake stuff...

I once got a fake Emerald off Amazon, from a seller, but I returned it and exchanged for a legal one.
On mine I looked up how to know if it's fake, and apparently for GBA ones, if you can't migrate when it should, then its definitely a fake. Also if it has a stretched Nintendo badge, or if it doesn't have one at all than its fake.

I had some Silver and Gold versions some years ago (actually I still have the silver one, but there's no way I can play it) that were pretty much like that (in)famous horribly translated Green version. That means:
    - names have only 5 characters
    - some dialogue was translated, the rest reminded me of Wingdings.
    - Gen 1 Pokemon had their real (but shortified) names, Gen 2 Pokemon's names sounded japanese.

But still, I had a lot of fun playing these versions, the gameplay was still the same and I never had any technical issues.

I found a fake Pearl at a shop in Turkey. It explains the fact that the USA had really kittle sellers with fake cartridges ,since piracy already is in our home (ahemtorrentahem).

I know the migrate thing. Also, the Emerald is of a dark green colour and I suppose yours was gray, just like any GBA game ?

I know the green version. I never heard of it though, but there were so many complaints that they dissappeared all of a sudden...
    You too ? Haha, my GS2in1 has the size and form of a GB cartridge, not a GBC. And it won't save, so I can't play ... ;_;

No my Emerald wasn't grey, it nearly looked like the real thing, apart from the label on the cartridge not shining when I held it up against the light. My brother also got one like this from eBay years ago, which worked, but once you got into the Hall of Fame it just restarted.

Yeah, for me it was quite easy to spot the difference, but I can imagine lot's of people buying it and thinking it was the real thing.

Yeah my friend had one like that. Only it didn't restart at the Hall of Fame, but the second his play-time clocked in at 100:00. I've never had a fake GB/DS game, but that's because all mine are from TESCO or game-shops.

I'm having a problem with real/fake pokemon cartridges. I recently purchased a copy of Pokemon Leaf Green through eBay. I think the game is real, but I am not sure. These are the physical characteristics of the cartridge:

Concurrent with legit copies of the game:
    -ESRB rating in lower-left corner
-"The Pokémon Company" written in black above "Nintendo" written in red and circled, all to the right of the ESRB rating
-Serial Number "AGB-BPGE-USA" in lower-right corner
-Oval-shaped Official Nintendo Seal above serial number, with foil border
-"I (circled) Nintendo (circled) AGB-E01-41" written above the metal teeth inside the cartridge
    -Opaque green case
-"Model No. AGB-002" written on back
-The internal battery is on the RIGHT side of the cartridge, similar to the real Emerald game in the original post

    Differences?:
    -Outer case is loose
    -Sticker is not foil
-No year is listed with the text above the metal teeth inside the cartridge
-There are no visible numbers/letters embedded in the sticker (I have seen this in other photos, above the Official Nintendo Seal on the right side of the cartridge)

I have not played the game yet, so I do not know if there are/will be any tell-tale signs of a fake game (crashes, etc.)

If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!
