Not sure if anyone ever actually made a post about this, so my apoligies if this is a repost.

So I tried to save it before choosing a Pokemon, but it says "Save error. Please exchange the backup memory." Now, I wouldn't normally consider this much of a problem, as I can always use Save States and whatnot. HOWEVER, I then remembered that it saves after you beat the Champion.

My hard work to improve the Elites and Gary and whatnot, and attempts to make them more challenging as well as making a few Pokemon better (only ones that come to mind at the moment are Arbok, Aron, Lairon and Aggron) will have been for naught if the game will not save. So I ask this: Does anyone else have this problem, and does anyone know where to find a US Pokemon FireRed ROM that will save?

Assuming that you use Visualboy Advance for playing your ROMs, you probably have the Save Settings wrong.

Go to options>emulator>save type and then change your settings to "Automatic & Flash 128K"

    That should fix it

Forgot something else that it says. It says "The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed." after getting past the title screen with Charizard on it. In addition, I just did what you suggested. It still won't save.

This is actually a pretty common problem, Google it because I don't know the answer off the top of my head.

Are you using Save States, or are you doing the normal in-game save?

To save, do what Heatran said, but delete the .sav file when you've done this. Restart the game then it should save.
