3rd Gen Fishing Rod in Sapphire

    Hey,

    well, I'm playing the Sapphire Edition right now and somehow I must have missed out the guy that should have given me the fishing rod in Dewford Town.
    I didn't take the Water Pokemon as my first pokemon and as I never could fish any Water Pokemon, I havn't got any pokemon whom I could taught surf. Is there any other possibilty I could get a pokemon with surf or return to Dewford Town or whatever?

    Can't you return to Slateport and take Mr. Briney's boat? How far are you in the game?

    And, you can catch a Marill commonly on land in these locations:

    Routes 102, 111, 114, 117, 120.


    EDIT: Besides, the rod there is an old rod, so you could only get Magikarp. They can't learn any TMs, so it'd be useless, unless you want to train one to lvl. 20 for a Gyrados.
