[Tool] Fixing "copy" frames in OWM?

Im sure everybody is aware that in fire red the pokemon overworlds contain the standard 9 frames, but evry other frame is just a copy of the previous. When I overwrite these sprites with OWM it imports my 9 new frames properly, but in game the overworld still acts as though it is using the copy frame method, so no walking animations are showing. I found the table for my specific sprite that points to the individual frames and it is pointing to all 9 frames and not the same frame multiple times, as it should. Does anyone know what else could be causing this behavior and how to fix it?
