Chinese Fashion is Shown to the World ---Two Fashion Shows of Hu Xiaodan in Europe

After his return, CCTV, Beijing TV station said in report that: Igedo Fashion Fair originated in 1949. Fashion designers from different nations show their masterpiece in Igedo Fashion Fair. Year after year, Igedo Fashion Fair has become the largest and the most influential international fashion fair. However, designers of China have little chance to show in Igedo Fashion Fair. This year, Hu Xiaodan was invited to Igedo Fashion Fair. A designer from 'five-star red flag' country gets the opportunity to show.In Igedo Fashion Fair, there are many famous designers. Hu Xiaodan won the warmest applause. In CCTV's concluding remark, it is said, 'Hu Xiaodan's design has conquered Europe'; In Beijing TV concluding remark, it is said, `Chinese design has conquered Europe'.

From November 25 to December 4, 1996, Chairman Mr. P Amrath of European Fashion Center invited Hu Xiaodan to visit European Fashion Center and participate in the annual celebration of the center. Hu Xiaodan will have a special fashion show in the celebration.His show will be the only fashion show in the annual meeting. Hu Xiaodan is the first Chinese designer to visit the European Fashion Center, and is the first Chinese designer to give a fashion show in die center.

In Germany, European Fashion Center(EVROMODA), is the biggest organization for European fashion, with members in all European countries. With fashion elites,EVROMODA is a famous fashion center around the world. Huge building surrounded by flags, gives a sense of authority.
In order to give a better show of Chinese style in Europe, Hu Xiaodan went to Europe with two Chinese female models. It is the first time for Chinese models to show in the European Fashion Center.
In order to show respect for Chinese culture and Chinese guests, European Fashion Center made a very beautiful invitation in Chinese style for the annual celebration, and cooperated with an advertising company to decorate the meeting place in a Chinese style.With little knowledge of China, they mistook Chinese style as Japanese-style. They use a lot ofukiyo-e paintings and cherries in decoration and at the entrance they made a large Japanese toni (they consider it as decorated archway of China). Although there were mistakes, the warm welcome of Europeans makes Chinese guests deeply touched.

Person in charge of European Fashion Center apologized again and again to Chinese guests for the mistakes in decoration style. Hu Xiaodan secretly blamed himself: as a Chinese designer in cultural field, it is his mistake. He should responsible for the little knowledge of Chinese culture, and he will introduce Chinese culture to the world.

Fashion show was given in a very warm atmosphere. European designers have a great interest in Hu Xiaodan's fashion design.Designs of Hu Xiaodan won enthusiastic applause. The show was a great success. After the fashion show, Hu Xiaodan expressed his gratitude to the audience. With endless applause,German host asked Hu Xiaodan to stay and asked him some questions.The curtain call lasted about seven or eight minutes.
After his second visit to Germany, on the programme Cultural SMS of CCTV 8 at 7:30,December 7, Hu Xiaodan said "Chinese fashion was shown to the world"
