Planning a new team for FR/LG. When rating, be sparing with TMs/Move Tutor skills if you will ;). And remember this isn't online, so no Hidden Power.

Houndoom [Modest | Flash Fire] Special Attack: 252, Speed: 252, HP: 6

    Sunny Day
    Crunch
    Solarbeam
    Flamethrower

Pretty standard special attacker. Might not get a chance to set Sunny Day up, but whatev.

    ________________________

Dragonite [Adamant | Inner Focus] Attack: 252, Speed: 252, HP: 6

    Dragon Dance
    Aerial Ace
    Brick Break
    Earthquake

Attacker. Dragon Dance up and away you go. I know Salamence does the job better, but hey, I like 'nite and I'm not going for perfection.

    ________________________

Steelix [Adamant | Rock Head] Attack: 252, Defence: 252, HP: 6

    Double Edge
    Rock Slide
    Roar
    Earthquake

Another attacker, but with Roar for hazing away stat increases. Incredible Defence means no-one's taing him down quickly. Well, except for Fire/Water types XD. Replace Roar with Explosion?

    ________________________

Dusclops [Impish | Pressure] Defence: 252, Special Defence: 252, HP: 6

    Night Shade
    Mean Look
    Confuse Ray
    Will-o-Wisp

This thing just sits there and soaks up the damage. I was contemplating removing Mean Look for Rest, and using Confuse Ray more as a method for forcing a switch. Will-o-Wisp is just great, and Night Shade is good ol' "100 damage for no Attack power." Although I could Seismic Toss instead.

    ________________________

Heracross [Adamant | Guts] Attack: 252, Speed: 252, HP: 6

    Earthquake
    Bulk Up
    Megahorn
    Brick Break

Self-explanatory. Just got to make sure he stays away from flyers.

    OR

Pinsir [Adamant | Hyper Cutter] Attack: 252, Speed: 252, HP: 6

    Swords Dance
    Brick Break
    Rock Slide
    Earthquake

Game Freak: Give this guy a freakin' Bug attack yeah? XD

    ________________________

Milotic [Modest | Marvel Scale] Special Attack: 252, Speed: 252, HP: 6

    Ice Beam
    Surf
    Recover
    Mirror Coat

No Sp Def EVs to free itself up for Mirror Coat. HP is high enough to take a Special hit. Recover and repeat. Hydro Pump over Surf maybe?

Houndoom- change modest to [speed + / atk -]. Houndoom is slow (for a sweeper). The extra speed will pull your speed up to be faster than some Pokemon like Dodrio (provided taht Dodrio is boosting attack not speed with personality), and etc etc.

Dragonite- change one of the physical attacks to a special attack to be less Skarmory/Weezing vulnerable (take thunderbolt just to be different than Salamence ;p)

Steelix- 252 defense is overkill. Change some to defense and take a fair balance. Not everything needs to be 252/6 (I used to think that way too). Keep roar as you'll be needing it. If you want explosion, take off rock slide or eq.

Dusclops- mean look into rest and no questions. And believe me YOU NEED MAX HP EV. Even if you maxed it, it's still a pitiful 284, and with your setup your hp is lower than standard Shuckle =/
Night shade to seismic toss as there are more normal types out there than ghost.

Take Pinsir because it's a UU by far, which means that people aren't as familiar regarding its stats and Pinsir will certainly get a few fair wins because of underestimation of this bug who actually as identical stats as Heracross in terms of attack power and speed. And... there's always HP Bug =p

Milotic- Milotic doesn't even need sp.attack to be darn annoying... power it up to be a staller. You'll need some hp and sp.def to survive those STAB Zapdos bolt though.

since ur planning for fr/lg can u even trade with fr/lg to r/s so early in the game. arent u forced to play with the 1st gen pokemon instead.

This is for after the main core of the game's complete. :)

'Weaver: So I pile EVs into Dusclops' Defence/Special Defence and HP, and leave one defence EV-less? Or split them 126/126 between Def and Sp Def, with 252 in HP?

Steelix: 252 Attack, 126 Def, 126 HP. Decent enough?

You don't have to have its EVs in fixed porportions... my old Dusclops has max EV and unbalanced defensive distribution depending if my team needs Dusclops to stall out special defense better or physical defense better... say if you have steelix on the team already, i'll make Dusclops's sp.def higher than defense, because there's always steelix to back Dusclops up in the physical def department, while there may not be a Vaporeon or Blissey to back up Dusclops in the sp.def department.
