Over the past several months I have noticed countless PC members who have had to restart their games or recode hours upon hours of code that could have been saved. Mostly it has been from data loss, having to reformat, or having hard disks die.
I know that backing up information can get expensive, there's software or you need a whole other computer to use as a server just to back up data. That can get expensive. You can back up data onto an external hard drive, which isn't all that expensive, but still can be costly to someone who has not employment. Lastly there is the trusty jump/flash drive. You can pick up decent sized ones for next to nothing. Downside I have found is these are easily stolen or lost depending on where you keep them.
Anyway onto what this is all about. More frequently I have noticed free sites that will host roughly 1-5 GB of data for you at no cost to you whatsoever. As nice as this would be for our games or just random files, large amounts of data would not be able to be stored, without multiple accounts if that was even possible.
Good ole Microsoft has decided to host for free (windows live account required) up to 25GB of data that can be accessed anywhere for the user. So if something bad happens and you lose everything, maybe you can have 25 GB of data not lost. You can access this service via https://skydrive.live.com/.
I have just began using it, and am unsure of everything about it, but If you are using it or have, let everyone know what you think of it. I hope this helps some of you to not lose important data. Also, don't forget to backup often. :)
Edit: I messed up the title of this :/ It should read "Free Online Storage"
