Well, here's a subject that was never taken too far into an in-depth discussion. What do you think of the game mechanics, especially in battle. I know people talked about the 3 on 3 battles, but what about other things?

I hope they won't be messing around with the way IVs and EVs, but I do hope that they change the RNG to make shinies and perfects IVs rare, again. Then, a shiny starter/legendary will actually mean something. What do you think?

I don't know, a 1 in almost 9000 chance seems pretty rare to me. Unless you are a crazy hardcore player, who will figure out the new system too.

As for 3 on 3 battles, I'm excited! I always thought the main fallback of Pokemon was that the support abilities were not really effective in 1-on-1 battles.

I truly agree with you. It will actually make more sense that way.

Berries that lower and raise iv's sound odd...it will make perfect iv's more common...
Which is good. A Pokemon's potential shouldn't be decided at birth, it really contradicts the idea of training to be "the very best". With these berries that Pidgey you caught early in the game would have potential to be one of the greatest Pidgeot's out there. IVs are simply stupid, why should some Pokemon of the same species naturally be better than others? And why should the weaker individuals never have the chance to overcome their hindrances?

Besides, most perfect IV'd Pokemon are either hacked, or RNGed (Which I consider unfair as well). These berries would reduce that.

Because a lot of Pokemon is based on the actual living world. Some animals are born stronger than others. Humans are a prime example. An average Joe can train as hard and often as Michael Phelps, but is that going to make him an equally good swimmer? Chances are, no. Many people cheat to get perfect IV's. I, for one, do not, and I'm sure there are many other players who don't. With the additions of characteristics, the man in the battle frontier who rates a Pokemon's forte, and the Power Items, IV's aren't as mysterious as they used to be. However, they are still the hardest to manipulate and to decipher out of all the variables of stats: themselves, EV's and Natures. Let that be. Not all Pokemon are created equal, but strategy and originality can overcome this inequality.

Great philosophy. That's hard to argue with.

I hope they add berries that raise/lower IVs. Evs can remain the same, I'll just use the EV/IV check AR code anyways.
    Me too.

The same world where it's impossible for a rat to defeat a whale? The same world where you can't get by with only a 5th grade education? Is Pokemon based off the world where it is much more difficult to train animals, and where you'll have a lot of difficulty traveling through the wilderness with just a 10 pound backpack? That's just not a good excuse.

Pokemon is trying to push good morals, such as determination. It makes sense for all Pokemon to have the potential to become the greatest with a lot of training.

I was going to post a similar thing, but I fell asleep. So I'll go by a different point: it's still unrealistic to expect everything to be the same. Mista T's analogy is pretty accurate and the games even go far to explain it: not one Pokémon should be the same.

I don't believe you're bringing up Pokémon stat growths or their unique stats with any personal experience in mind. Why should you really care or call it an issue? The only ones who should be obsessed with the idea of perfect growths are those who get into competitive battling. If you're complaining about them, you're needlessly conscious about it. In a game where CPUs have control and all you need to do is sweep them, and where your Pokémon's stats should be good enough against most computer-controlled trainers, it shouldn't really matter.
Not every Pokemon would be the same, you'd just have the ability to tamper with their IVs if you wished. You'd have to work hard by gathering berries to get your desired perfect stat, but you could do it. It's somewhat similar to EVs, if you think about it.

Believe me, IVs can be that one factor that can make you win or lose battles, particularly in Trick Room vs. Trick Room battles. Everything is just cookie cutter of smogon sets anyways, it really doesn't make much of a difference. Yes, strategy overcomes all, but fully trained Pokemon really shouldn't be literally weaker than another Pokemon that was trained exactly the same way.

Plus we can get our desired Hidden Powers! :D
