Just what the hell is Gary Oak doing at Silph Co.?
Doesn't it seem a bit weird that he's just hanging out in the middle of it? Does this point to something sinister? D=

No not really it is explained in the game that he was waiting for you to turn up to battle you he is your rival after all. He may also have tried to stop team rocket if you hadn't beaten him.

Or, maybe he is with Team Rocket all the time....
That explains why he hates you, and beats E4 all the time(exactly after you too...), since the E4 are {[$ R I C H $]}

Waiting for you to turn up just makes it sound even more sinister to me o.o

also the guy who gives you lapras says that you have saved them, when Gary was there all along. Which indicates that he thought Gary was with the Rockets.

Not necessarily...if you ignore that guy until you beat the boss, he'll still give you the lapras. He could be reffering to you beating Giovanni instead of Gary.

Nay, because then he would only say it after you had being Giovanni.

I doubt that all this was intentional, I just find it interesting that Nintendo chose to make the battle with Gary there.
