Gastrodon

Wait, that was a hypothetical example...or are you talking about gastrodon? If you want to use the best mirror coater, use milotic, or even blastoise works. Don't forget about cradily...but please read my last post...

Yeah. I was talking about Gatrodon's ev's. Cradily: Careful Nature Ev's 216 hp/156 def/128 sp.def

i don't understand what you guys are arguing about. gastrodon has the stats to pull off mirror coat, but it doesn't have the typing. it can't survive an energy ball/grass knot regardless of how many evs it's given. it's typing does make it a formidable physical tank however, and with enough evs in the right places, it can survive a Close Combat from Scarf Cross and Counter it.

that's the whole idea to counter on Gastrodon. you bring it in after one of your pokes faint from a physical sweeper and bring it in with the intention of countering.

Gastrodon can utilize Choice Band/Specs if you're desperate to use it, but otherwise, what i posted is all it can really do.

Cradily's EVs depend greatly on its moveset. The special wall cradily is my favorite, but mixed wall crad works great as well.

EDIT: I'm trying to show him why special defense is needed to pull off mirror coat at the moment. One grass attack and BOOM! You're right Samson...I'd just use something else if I were him.

Stockpile moves suck. Just use Recover, it uses two turns to restore FULL HP, while Stockpile/Swallow takes 4 turns to restore full HP

Yeah, but doesn't stockpile raise defenses? You ciould use that and recover and you're set. Or so I think.

I don't like you, ur catching up to me on postcount. XDD

The Stockpile moves suck. Stockpile doesn't.

You can't give Gastrodon Counter with a 68 base Defense.

Oh, gotcha on the stockpile moves. And hahaha, my ban was the best thing that ever happened to your post count...hahaha. Actually I just have no life...I don't think I recommended counter on it. You actually need defense to use counter, unless you're bold blissey with 252 EVs in defense and HP. Why isn't that used more anyways? It's not all too bad actually...but mirror coat on gastrodon works once the grass threats are out of the way...wait, did I just say that?

wow, ive never really seen anyone use gastrodon but i guess hes pretty good.

Gastrodon @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SAtk
Relaxed Nature
-Surf
-Recover
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam

i think he really stands out from swampert since he has recover.
surf for stab and ice beam to cover grass types.
and who could say no to a STABbed equake?

Yes, but swampert has the defenses, especially with curse, to use rest well. But your set is fine, though I've hardly even heard of gastrodon. Always use recover on it is my advice...

thats why you max his def and run away from sp attacking grasses.
haha, unless you wanna risk it with an ice beam.
i would rather use swampert but i guess gastrodon is pretty good....

Swampert is physically orientated, where as Gastrodon has the special side covered well, my team has enough Physicals which is why I planned on using Gastrodon instead of Swampert

Also I had no idea how out of hand the thread was gonna get, almost had a flame war on our hands but its good to see it died down quickly as well

Oh, didn't want it to be a flame war! It was awful tough to prove my point about mirror coat, but oh well. I think we all pretty much agree on gastrodon now, which is probably a good thing.

Gastrodon is cool as a mini wobbuffett.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
252 Hp, Split defenses
- Surf
- Recover
- Mirror Coat
- Counter

Very good set actually.
