Gen 2 to Gen 4

Hi,

First and foremost apologies if this is the wrong section. So far my Google search has been most unhelpful. Basically I got my first ever legit shiny today on Crystal (emulated), it was a hatched Igglybuff and I wanted to transfer it to my SoulSilver (also emulated). I've extracted the .PKM file from my Crystal save but the file won't work in any save editors (PokeGen, PokeSav etc). Any help/ideas please?

I'm afraid the Gen 2 games aren't compatible with the later gens.

I don't know enough about emulation to know if it's possible but Alice is right that generation II games can only connect with generation I and II on console.

You need to use pokegen to generate a cheat code for the pokemon you want to transfer and then put the cheat code into your soul silver rom.

You can use this tool to convert Pokemon from Gen 2 format to Gen 3 format but you'd have to find something else to convert from Gen 3 to Gen 4, or Pal Park the Pokemon across from a Gen 3 game.
