I have been playing all the old games again and in soul silver I have created a living dex including all legendaries and mythicals (1-493). While I wait for Pokemon Black to arrive, what team should I make and train against the elite 4 (repeatedly)? And recommended move sets

So playing in Soul Silver, right? I won't say anything about move sets just cause that gets super complicated, but I think to answer a question about forming a team, I think it depends entirely on what you're going for. If you want a team to do well against the elite four, you can look them up on google and make a team designed to beat them and have coverage against them. However, I tend to go for making a team comprised entirely of Pokémon I love with some coverage thrown in too, so here's some that I've had surprising(or
Not so surprising) amounts of fun with:

    1. Umbreon- having a Pokémon that evolved due to our friendship made me love using it more.

    2. Gyrados- Had the red shiny on my original Johto team as a kid and loved every minute of it.

    3. Bellossom- Does surprisingly well in Johto with nice moves available(all the powders, giga drain, etc).

    4. Heracross- this guy is a BEAST in gen 4. Great access to fighting and bug moves and even learns aerial ace just via level up.

    5. Tyranitar- Takes a long time to get one but so worth it. I was actually very surprised by the fun I had when he was a Pupitar too.

    6. Furrett- Cutest HM slave in the world but also just has access to great moves if you want a versatile normal type.

    7. Scizor- Amazing. Can't even express the awesomeness of this Pokémon in battle. Again, endeared to me because he is challenging to get.

    8. Steelix- Similar to Scizor but more of a defensive wall Pokémon. Lots of fun to use.

That should give you enough to work with for now. I am biased for Johto Pokémon, as I'm sure you can tell, but I figure you're in a Johto game, so it's appropriate. That should give you enough to work with for now. Good luck. I hope you enjoy yourself. :)

Some great suggestions and strong, interesting Pokemon. Tyranitar is a favourite of mine too :)
