    Welcome to my first fanfic posted here! This is sort of based on RPGs I participated in, but not entirely. It's an OT story, but it's not about a Pokemon league...

    First, the prologue...
    In the lone continent of Mire (that's pronounced MEER-ay), there was no Pokemon league, no gyms, no Contests, not even "serious" trainers, who could be described as not considering Pokemon mastery nor participating in much battles. The reality is that most were quite modest. The large island was a humble village circuit with a somewhat melancholy overcast. Small islands or large sandbars dotted the surrounding ocean like darts just missing the target. Boisterous and overpopulated cities ceased to exist there, villages and small towns being the only things not foreign to the civilians. Technology was also alien to them. This ever so slightly touching yet macabre tale tells of an unnatural blight that aroused much confusion and mystery among the civilians. But, yet, some stepped up to the plate, hoping for a run in the long shot...

    ...And the first chapter.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On the southernmost beach of the crescent-shaped Mire, the still vibrantly luminescent sun kissed the gradually darkening sky goodbye. There was an uplifting silence in the waves--they performed their daily ritual for the departing Great Light. Though this experience was soothing to most, not a single soul was in the vincinity that day.
    Except one.
    It was a Ralts.
    A curious and timid Ralts peeked out from behind a foot-tall rock jutting out from the rocky sand near the forest behind her. She called herself Pathia, the name emphasizing her empathetic and sympathetic nature.
    Pathia gazed out into the sea, witnessing the ritual's progress. A song filled her head, like being touched by angels, her mind drifting with the entrancing waves, the sweet nectar of serenity filling the crystal glass of her soul. As night came, the heavens turned on the complicated light switches of the tiny and numerous stars. Pathis was glad to be alone, in peace, away from the complications and struggles of the civilians' everyday lives. For their intimidating auras brought fright and possibly depression to cloud her mind, moist and smelly breath fogging the crystal glass.
    Eventually, after the long acknowledgement of gratitude in her spirit, Pathia did return to the nearby village of Tempestia. The name was appropriate; the activity of the civilians was quite panicky, like a stirring wind. Shouts rang out from everywhere:
    "Aliens!"
    "Mad scientists!"
    "Voodoo!"
    "It's a curse! It's a curse!"
    "The legendary Pokemon gods are angry!"
    Each outburst varied in vocabulary and idea, but the message was clear; something foreign was being introduced into the increasingly frantic village abruptly and seemingly involuntarily. All these cries struck the little Ralts' head like a bolt of lightning. Pathia started to hover over the commotion--a part of her wanted to find out more about this catastrophe. She was staring down at the time, until she heard a faint sound ahead...
    A shadowy figure was spotted at the far end of the village; she was apparently the only one to spot it. The visual perception areas of Pathia's brain hurriedly deciphered the image--it looked like a baby Lugia with wings of a Togetic and the body of a Charizard just by interpreting the silhouette. But maybe it was just a blur, or a new Pokemon for which Pathia had no memory bank. As she pondered, a beckoning force drove her along the path of the figure, whatever it was...
    That I will find out, she thought. Whether it be the evolved form of a Bagon or a legendary Pokemon, (I hope it's not something I can become!) I am filled with a certain curiosity, yet, still, I am horribly frightened so that my skin feels like gelatin...
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Well, what do you think so far? I'm sorry if it's too complicated, but... I tried to make it interesting. I shall have the next chapter up soon!

    *Author's Notes:
    -I said this was an OT story, right? Well, I'm not going to even mention the trainer until later, so be patient!
    -The continent of Mire is nowhere near Kanto, Hoenn, etc. I probably won't even mention them in this fanfic, nor will I mention any anime characters.
    -I'll add more notes when I think of them...
    -I'm currently unsure of the rating since I haven't planned out most of the plot yet (though I did get the general idea for it). I now see it as possibly rated PG or PG-13 because there will most likely be some violence. However, there will be no swearing nor kissing. Though I might occasionally make references to deity, but pretty much only in dialogue, and not too much. (I'm my own religion, so I probably won't offend anyone religiously.)
    -Just to let you know, I'm improvising in this story, sort of, so my thoughts about the story now might not be the same as later. The chapters almost always come as inspiration, but I promise not to rush them.

    Ooh. Length. ;_;

    Yes, length is something you really must work on...but getting to other things...

    Ooh okay, the beginning was excellent. Your use of descriptions, the style you wrote it completely entranced me. The only thing I would advise is cover the vague yearnings of some of the details in that one paragraph. For a couple of sentences, it can mean a whole lot of other things...Fourth paragraph...it really emphasized on Pathia's nature, her wistfulness gazing out of her thoughtful mind. <3 it.

    Actually, there are only two main things bothering me. One is the length, but you can easily overcome it with your awesome usage of descriptions flowing naturally. Two, is the lack of information I have. The chapter confused me, some parts were fragments of information not coming to you clearly, but it was well written. o_O;

    Very nice, it's turning out rather original and thoughtful. ^_^

    Chapter 2

    *OK, just as a note, most of my chapters are twice as long as this last one was, but I had a reason for stopping where I did... OK, second chapter...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As Pathia drifted on, she failed to notice her conscience dissolving in her curiosity like a sugar cube, the water of curiosity slowly rising in temperature. Her body naturally followed the mystery Pokemon's every move, even when it picked up speed and dodged through the trees with great agility. Neither of the two bumped into the trees that thickened as they went, making it harder for Pathia to keep up.
    Suddenly, it came. The figure performed a sudden upward jolt, as if it just hit an antigravity pad below the point where it took off. The little Ralts attempted the same thing but did not possess the remarkable strength to pull herself into a direct right-angle upward tilt. It was more like a forty-five-degree angle, and Pathia took on the sensation that she had teleported and ended up in a tree, though her head felt like it had been struck by a Hitmonchan's Mach Punch.
    The next few moments were spent in a daze, quiet, except with the occasional squawk of an upset Taillow whose nest had apparently been situated in the spot where Pathia sat. When she was able to think straight again, Pathia kept replaying the incident in her mind like a videotape. But if the film ran on twenty-four frames per second, the sharp turn of the unknown Pokemon would have occurred right inbetween two frames: one showing the Pokemon and the next showing just blackness. Still, the incident--the whole thing--lingered in Pathia's mind. A part of her was impressed by the Pokemon's wit, yet another still wanted to play her little game of tag.
    Forget it, she eventually thought. I can't even find that thing now, I bet.
    By that time, it was completely dark. Pathia looked up to see if she could find any Pokemon constellations in the stars that hung below a beautiful midnight blue, clear sky. But this just made her think more of the Pokemon she saw just moments before. A part of her wondered if she would eventually evolve into this Pokemon, and she pondered how weird yet wonderful that would be. Since she beared no resemblance to any Pokemon she ever witnessed around her, she figured that there was no guessing what she would evolve into. But evolution was beyond her problems that night, for a new mystery had erupted like new lava onto the rocky earth, where it would finally cool once she understood it.
    Pathia's contemplation was broken by the same Taillow, now impatient, as it seemed. Pathia heard a screech and a sharp peck at her back. Though she floated down to the ground after falling, her emotional reflexes knocked some fright into her. As she rubbed her back gently yet painfully, she caught a brief glimpse of the Taillow, who, strangely, had fluffy brown feathers on the inside of his wings and on top of his head. He was also quite chubby for his kind.
    "What are you waiting for, you little mushroom?" the Taillow blurted in Taillow language. "Are you going to float away like a leaf or plant your mushroomy roots in the rotten earth below?" Pathia was taken aback by the now staring Taillow's quite obscure remarks. Surely, she had never thought of herself as a mushroom before.
    "Yeah," the Taillow jabbered on, "you look like a green mushroom with a moldy blue stem and a couple of guitar picks stuck in your head. Maybe that's why you're so scatterbrained."
    Pathia was confused. There was silence between the two participants in this verbal scuffle. Pathia was too overcome by shyness and nervousness to utter a peep, and Taillow stared until his eyes grew red, awaiting his "mushroom" to make a move.
    The ice broke.
    "Would you quit staring at me? If I'd known better, I'd think you were making fun of me for being fat. But you are an ugly mushroom, and I am an eagle with a wing job that transformed me into an excellent glider plane." The Taillow rubbed his wings against the sides of his body, as if trying to show off what he considered their astounding beauty.
    "D... D... Did you see... that... giant... thing?" Pathia stammered quietly, seeming as intimidated by the Taillow as by the mystery dragon.
    The Taillow said nothing--he just closed his eyes, lifting his head to his left with his beak elevated in a dignified way. When Pathia deciphered his every emotional thought, she perceived the Taillow as thinking he was as powerful as a jet plane in the vast sky. At this, she had to let out a snicker, immediately backtracking her thoughts to the mystery Pokemon from before.
    The Taillow ignored her--he then announced quite proudly, "My name is Toru." The thought process behind that remark puzzled Pathia the moment it left the Taillow's beak. At that point, Pathia had decided that Toru was too conceited for her to remain there, like a mushroom, as Toru himself had teased, and began to float up, a hot air balloon with the flame just turned on.
    But no more than half a sigh of relief had passed by when a rustle of leaves and a fluttering sound pursued her.
