So i'm breeding a ditto and a Metacross and i just have 1 or 2 questions.

    (a) Since i'm breeding instead of running around in grass is it still 1 in 8140 (I think) or would it then be 1 in 4000+? Since it seems that by breeding it's cut in half and i'm not quite sure if that's correct.

    (b) I know that it's time consuming trying to get your hands on a shiny, but can someone estimate how long it could take to finally get your hands on a shiny by breading. As in Hours or Days.

If someone could so kindly answer then thank you (=

    A. Unless you're breeding with a Pokemon from another game, the chances are still the same. If you're breeding two Pokemon from different regions (like Japanese Ditto, English Beldum), then the chances are cut down to ~1/2000 iirc. The only benefit to breeding two same region ones is that it's probably faster, and you don't have to worry about finding the Pokemon and accidentally killing it.

    B. I can't answer this one, because I've never bred a shiny tbh. But say that it takes you 20 minutes to collect 5 eggs and hatch them, that's 32,000 minutes to hatch 8000 eggs, or just over 22 days. But you're obviously not going to be breeding nonstop so it'll take much longer than that in reality to even the odds. But you may run across one on the first egg...or you may breed for 6 month in every free second and never find one. It's all up to your luck.

    Thanks for answering!

Hmm interesting. I should have mentioned i'm doing this on emerald. Well my emerald is EU so i'nm guessing it would be something like 1/6500 instead? Maybe or 1/7100.

Wow! Hatching 8000 .. So i must have to use a JPN version of lets say ditto and a EU Metacross to get these odds 1/2000 but since i dont is it still 1/8000 chance?

Hmm i thought it would take less time O.o Damn i don't know why they would make it so hard to get a shiny .. Well i guess i better cross my finger then Haha

Sorry i just want to make sure i understand fully (:

Why would the EU version have a different shiny rate? I've never heard of that, so it's still 1/8192 breeding as long as the two Pokemon are from the same region.

Actually looking it up, the method of using two different region Pokemon didn't exist until Gen IV, so all you have is the 1/8192 chance. :/ Yeah shinies are a big deal, that's why people freak out over them, cause they're so rare.

That's crazy, doesn't suprise me that they are hard to get but i was so sure that it was a lot easier (O.o)

Damn i guess i'll look around the internet to find a better solution or just give up on getting that shiny metacross. Huh 1 in 8000+ that's so stupidly ridiculas Haha! *Starts Crying*

Wait i'm not sure if it's different for 2 pokemon (EU) .. Hmm i must do some re-search .. My original though was that you had to have a japanese pokemon to get a better chance but maybe 2 pokemon form the same region would be fine (: but then again from what you said i guess it's going to be very hard :'(
