Title: Gods & Shadows: A Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Fan-Fiction.

Summary: A thousand years have passed since The Void War. Without anything to do, Ace is bored. Then, her old friend Mew comes to her with an offer she just simply can't refuse.

    Rating: K-M (For Paranoia.)

Ace sighed. She couldn't believe how boring the world had gotten. Decades it had been since anything sparked her interest. The little Pikachu wandered around the gorge until she found a small stream. She frowned, bent over and took a drink. The creature wanted some sort of adventure to happen! But that didn't look like it would come any time soon.

'Then why don't you just leave?' A childish giggle came from above. Ace rolled her eyes. 'Come on Ace! Don't be like that!'

"Oh the great Lady Mew. How rude of me to not show her grace," Splashing water onto her face felt good. But not as good as leaving this damn gorge! For some reason a strange force kept her here. For decades now Ace would wander aimlessly around with nothing to do… But actually leave into unknown territories? What else would the world have to offer?

In this gorge time stood still. With the exception of watching the clouds move and a Pidgey or two fly by, there really wasn't much to see. She recounted her days of when she had adventure running through her veins and making her blood hot. Now, she assumed if she stayed any longer she'd go insane.

"How many years has it been, Milady?" Bowing as the pink creature floated in front of her Ace smiled with grace.

Mew rolled her eyes. 'Far too many. You know you don't need to be so proper around me, Ace!' Giggling the legendary did a little flip and twirled its tail. Ace rubbed her neck and groaned. 'You've become senile yet? A thousand years it's been and I think you'd crack by now being all alone.'

Ace sighed. "First, I've only been alone here for fifty years. Second, I'm immortal. Arceus hadn't lost his mind or else the world itself would be in peril. I can't be insane or else- "

'The universe itself will be out of whack,' Mew groaned, smacking a paw to her forehead. 'I get it! But even gods need a vacation!'

    "Gods?" Ace raised a brow.

'That's what people thought of us back then, anyway.' The legendary shrugged. 'I just came back from a dimension where only Pokémon inhabit. And guess what? There was another Mew! He was rather handsome!' The pink mouse Pokémon giggled girlishly, only to this time catch her friend's interest.

"Wait. Another Mew? Another dimension? Does this mean there'll be another Arceus?" Ace tugged on Mew's tail and brought her down to eyelevel, studying her seriously for a moment, there was a pause after panic from the pain – until – "ONLY POKÉMON?!"

Mew nipped at Ace, forcing her to let go. 'Yes! Only Pokémon! It just screams adventure, doesn't it!?' Doing her little mid-air summersault, the self-proclaimed 'god' was as carefree as ever. 'You want me to take you?'

Leave… This world? For how long? Forever? Ace let it sink in… This place was her home… She didn't think she could leave forever. So there's no way she could get attached… No possible way – 'Hello! Earth to Ace! We going or what?!'

Ace's lips thinned. She held out her paw, soon intertwining with Mew's – a white light glowing around them. "Let's go."

'Sorry Ace! I can't show myself here! Legendaries are rare so – good luck!'

The damn giggle was all Ace was able to register. Groaning, the Pokémon go up. She wobbled a bit trying to maintain her balance, but failed horribly as she hit the grass. "Dammit." She hissed. Who knew that travelling between dimensions took that much out on you?

After opening her eyes, she noticed a small pond was right in front of her – within paw's reach actually. She smirked, getting up she moved towards it and drank some of the water which surprisingly was fresh. "So this isn't some freaky world with toxic ponds, good to know." She sighed feeling the freshness of the water on her face, only to then hear beeping noises she slowly turned…

    "What now?"

Beep bo. Beep bo. "You are zeet! under zeet! arrest! zeet!" There were three – not one – but three! Beheeyem readying to attack her, all at once! That was hardly fair now was it? "Zeet! Prepare – zeet! To surrender! Zeet."

"Like this is fair!" Ace moved away from the robots as they each fired a Pysbeam.

Swearing to herself as she kept running she had no idea why Mew would place her in the middle of a forest where three Beheeyem would arrest her? That wasn't her intention, right? 'It's adventure, that's what you want, right?'

Oh Mew… Stopping there were the three robot-like Pokémon in front of her, readying to attack again, but this time they had teleported and had her surrounded in almost a blink of an eye. "Surren- zeet der!"

She wasn't going to bow to anyone! Thousands of years of being free and this is what she was now being subjected to?! She closed her eyes readying an Iron Tai, hoping it would work as she was prepared to clock one Beheeyem on the head and make a run for it.

"Iron Tail!" She cried and it worked! These guys really were pre-programmed to do something, and that something was her.

But why? As she noticed only two were following her now, she grew tired of running. Sighing she found herself blocked off by a tree. "Some god I am, can't even defeat three Beheeyem…" 'Should I be gloating about that right now?' Frowning, she turned around, seeing another Pysbeam was locked on to her by the duo.

She raised her paws, yet they didn't seem to want to stop their attacks.

"Leaf Storm!" The Beheeyem – surprisingly moved their heads towards the commotion but that didn't stop them from being whisked away by the massive storm. "Stay away, this creature has no business with you." A Shiftry! Of all Pokémon to save her – a Shiftry?

'Don't be picky!' Her conscious barked, scolding her. The third Beheeyem came from behind the dual-type, Ace cried out, jumping and made an Iron Tail to knock the monster on the head once again. "What a sad fate. Being defeated twice by my Iron Tail." Ace made a 'Tsk tsk' with her tongue shaking her head, grinning all the while.

The Shiftry glanced at Ace from the treetops trying to mask its appearance. Though, something caught Ace's attention as the leaves rustled and the mask was apparently not good enough. "You can come down now." Ace sighed, moving away from the mess that was in front of her.

She licked her paw and moved it over her fur slicking it back. "If you're looking for a fight, go somewhere else."

The Shiftry scoffed and jumped in front of Ace. The girl's eyes narrowed towards the dark type's leg which was wobbling. "Injury…" She let out but barely a whisper. Shiftry were agile fighters and fast ones too, not the fastest though, but they were capable enough to hold their own.

"Not from this. From something else." The man wobbled as he walked, trying not to wince. "Old battle wounds as I call it. Seems as though you got a few yourself." He puffed up his chest, crossing his arms, smiling. Ace rolled her eyes. "Say, what's a Pikachu like you doing this far into the forest, more importantly – being chased by three Beheeyem?"

Ace growled, doing her best to keep electricity from sparking everywhere. "None of your business." She began to run past the stranger but was stopped as he jumped in front of her – to her surprise he didn't wince at all. "Oh, you still have some spark left in you – battle wounds? Care for another?"

"Stop." The old man commanded. "I don't like where your attitude is going. I can take you out whenever I damn well please. I'm the second strongest in my village – "He bit his lip – eyes narrowing. "My people are peaceful Pokémon, so don't even think of threatening us. I saved you, now I ask who are you? Where did you come from? Why where those Pokémon after you?"

Ace's eyes glazed over the elderly Shiftry. She knew she was in another world and making threats probably wasn't a good way to make first impressions. Ace placed a hand on her chest and bowed, making the dual-type raise his eyes. "My apologies, I have no idea why those Pokémon were chasing me. I've just ended up here and I was looking for a place to stay. For some reason I couldn't defend myself. I'm thankful for you helping me, though."

She could be polite. But first time in a new world and being mobbed by strange Beheeyem wasn't really what she had in mind. The Shiftry huffed and looked down the path that was to the right of them. "Our village is that way, you can stay at my house if you want. There's a school with children so be courteous of them."

"As long as those Beheeyem don't return…" She sighed. She began walking down the path. "I really have no idea where they came from." The century-old Pikachu sighed then scuffed at the lighting-bolt scar on her chest. She did that sometimes when she was caught in a daze or had a bad feeling coming on. "So, school? For Pokémon children?" She's never heard of anything like that, in all the places she's traveled.

"Yes, they're just learning and some of them might be explorers or leaders." Ace smiled. That was a good goal to have. Only if this world was as nice as it appeared. Her stomach soon began to growl, realizing she hadn't eaten anything before she left, and that dimension-hopping can actually take a lot out of you.

"We have fresh food at the village," Shiftry smiled. "You're welcome to it." Ace smiled back. For a Pokémon she just tried to kill – he was really friendly. Maybe the other villagers were to? She had to make note of her temper that Mew had always chastised about. She had to stay calm, well. Maybe today it was just the hunger. And being attacked by three rouge Pokémon at once.

Tomorrow would be a better day.

When they got to the village school had apparently just let out. The school only consisted of one main class, which taught basic skills to the young low-level Pokémon children. From what she could tell, there was vice-principle Watchog and principle Simipour. The children of the school were Pancham, Shelmet, Goomy, Nuzleaf, Deerling, Espurr and…

"A Riolu." She gasped. The little Pokémon didn't seem to notice her at first when she was standing at the entry way of village. None of them had, but Shiftry noticed her change of expression change to Riolu. He smiled.

"That's Shadow." Her ears perked up and she flushed. "He's an orphan. He's Carracosta boy now."

Ace's eyes widened. A Carracosta? She's only seen one of them a few decades ago. Maybe not fifty, around thirty. It was ginormous and put up a grand fight. It was young and full of spunk. She grinned at the thought of how full of fire it was. But… "So there's not a Lucario in this village?"

She asked, rather disappointed. Shiftry nodded sadly. Suddenly Shadow looked over at them and waved. "Hey! Mr. Shiftry! You're back – did you bring anything cool?" Ace chuckled. The complete opposite of Lucario she could already tell.

"Move out of the way dork – "Ace's eyes narrowed to the Pancham who was trying to get in Shadow's way.

    "No shoving Pancham, Shelmet!"

Ace sighed and walked over to them. "Yo." She could still be cool, and hip. Hey! She was only several thousand years old! "Don't do that – it'll stab you right back if you do someday."

They all looked at each other. "Stab you…" They trailed off. "Right back?"

Ace crossed her arms over her scar and nodded with a smirk. "Hasn't anyone told you about karma? You do bad things to someone and bad things happen to you?"

Shiftry sighed. This one was going to be a handful.

There were a few moments pause until Pancham dared to look back up at the strange Pikachu. She looked kind of scary with her scruffy fur and scars – she wasn't emitting any electricity so that showed she wasn't angry. But… "Who are you?"

Shiftry darted a glare, Ace smiled. "My name is Ace. I just ended up in that forest and was looking for a place to stay." Shiftry rolled his eyes, but was thankful she didn't say anything about the Beheeyem. "Hey – I heard there's a Carracosta in this village."
Shadow looked up excitedly and his tail started wagging. Ace wanted to giggle, Lucario never did that. "Yeah! That's my pops!"

"I fought one a few years back. And he put up a really awesome fight – "The kid's all oohed. Shiftry scoffed. "Wait – you don't believe me?"

    She snarled.

    "You? Really?"

"Yes. Really. It had to be… I don't know… Fifty… Thirty years ago…" Shiftry eyes widen, and so did the kids, but they were more focused on how cool it was to take down a Carracosta at her size. Shiftry was just focused on the age-range she had put out. Just how old was this Pikachu? "It'd be nice to spar with someone again. I haven't done it in a few years."

"My pops' is too old." Shadow said sadly. Ace laughed.

"Never too old for a good fight." There was a twinkle, a burning sensation in her eyes. Almost like fire. The others gaped in awesomeness at the new stranger. Until the children were told it was time to go back to class, all was quiet again. Ace finally had time to think to herself yet again.

"We can arrange a place for you to stay." Ace nodded. She didn't need one, really, she might be gone by morning, but… The peacefulness of the village was nice. Maybe she could stay… "Something on your mind?"

"That boy. Shadow." She smiled. Heading back towards Shiftry to his home. "He reminds me of someone I met…" But she couldn't quite figure out whom. Maybe, it was just a hunch, and it'd come back to her later.

Or maybe it was his Aura. She smiled, shaking her head.
