HEY GUYS LONG TIME NO SEE >____>;
(I read the rules, and this doesn't seem to be illegal, so I'll go ahead.)
So it looks like I'm going to be going to Singapore in about a week, which means I'll finally be able to get my hands on some PokeSpe! Considering that shipping from Singapore to North America is ridiculously expensive, I figure it will be much cheaper for me to buy volumes back and ship domestically than for folks here to buy from Singapore and take markups + big shipping costs. Therefore, I will be taking requests on manga volumes that people would like-- I'll go to Singapore, buy the volume(s), bring them back, and then ship them to you.
The details:
Costs:
A volume of PokeSpe: $8.50SGD, or about $6USD.
Mailing supplies: a bubble mailer for one book is about 69 cents; packages will cost more, but not linearly. An 8"x8"x8" box is around $1.79 at the post office, apparently.
Postage: I've shipped single manga volumes before, and one weighs abouuuut 8 ounces-- $2.19 in shipping. Shipping a larger amount like 10, though, through media mail is cheap-- $3.63!
So including shipping, one book would go about $8.88, and ten to about $65.42 -- $6.54 per book.* These are really rough estimates and I could be way off base. I'm not trying to make money, but I would like to request $1-2 per book extra just for handling or miscalculated costs and stuff, and the cost of exchanging money. (Tips would be nice though.) If my calculations are WAY off, then I will ask for more; if you can't afford it, then we'll cancel the transaction, you'll get any money back, and I lose out. However, this seems accurate enough.
*To compare, Grimsg charges about $8USD per book, and that doesn't include shipping, which can cost more than the book itself.
What's the catch?
A couple of things.
1) While I am packing light to be able to bring back tons of stuff, I obviously cannot accept infinite requests. I think I should be able to devote 25 pounds to manga alone, so that's about 50 books? Not sure. Also, airlines are being ridiculous now and I am not willing to pay $25 or $100 or whatever to bring an extra suitcase... unless enough people are willing to pay some markup, but I want to avoid that.
2) If you haven't noticed, this would have to be US-ONLY, UNLESS you are willing to pay higher for international postage. Sorry.
3) Cash is evil-- I sent $90 concealed to Singapore once to buy some PokeSpe, and I never saw anything back. I am very, very wary of cash, and I absolutely cannot accept it unless you fully understand that if it gets lost in the mail, I'm not responsible. Mailed checks are fine, Paypal is fine (the extra dollar goes to countering some of Paypal's cut in the transaction).
4) I am leaving on the 14th. I do not want to lug back a bunch of PokeSpe and find out that people actually didn't really want it in the first place. Therefore, I cannot take any "hum, hah, maybe"s, and if you're ordering it, you better pay for it. In fact, I will give first priority in my suitcase to people who have paid me by the 14th. Also, I will not be shipping until I receive the money. If you're wary of internet sales, then talk to me and we can arrange something.
PM or leave a note here. Sorry for tl;dr. ^___^
