Has anyone come across a problem with there Gold and Silver where they can not save anymore, everytime you save a game and then come back to it, the game that you saved s not there and all it gives you is New Game and Option selections? I have this problem with my games BOTH OF THEM. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

its an issue with the internal battery, you have to buy a new battery on line and solder it into the cartridge. Type in pokemon gold on wikipedia and scroll down, youll see it.

Do a search for ways of replacing the battery on a search engine. The best way to fix it, in my opinion, is to buy a new copy if available.

Either way, you won't get your old save file back.

I agree i wouldnt waste any of your money trying to replace the battery and then soldering it to the game catridge as if you just bought a new copy of the game it would probably cost less.

I disagree. A battery would be much cheaper - may take a bit more work, but it may be worth it (think about a watch... would you just throw away a watch and buy a new one, or would you replace the 2 dollar battery in it that lasts for more than a year?).

I haven't checked running prices for G/S/C, but I know some of the older Pokemon games can go for quite a hefty price online, considering they're not in retail stores anymore. I remember a friend of mine sold her son's old Red version on eBay for around 100 bucks. So they're not cheap... and if the battery on the new one is gonna die eventually too, it would save your "gaming experience" for a lifetime to just learn how to replace the battery.

Unless, of course, they stop selling the battery also. Then you're screwed. :-)

Also, does anyone know if this can also happen in Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald?

It also happened to my red version, I couldn't save my data 'cuz its battery screw up... Well, i haven't tried replacing the battery. May it will work again, somehow....

I think it would be easier to just buy a new game. I've had the same thing happen DX where I live, these days you can get GB color games for $5 coz no-one plays them anymore. You just have to find them first.

I'v just tried replacing my red version's battery yesterday, I thought that It'll work again but it didn't yet. I was srewed up by my disapointment though...

everytime i save on my gold version, 1 hour latter i turn it on again, click continue and it says the file is currupted,im playin the game on my GBA aswell,i gave up.

I had the same problem with my crystal... except i know for a fact it wasnt the battery, it was actually the internal wiring connecting the "video card" if you could call it that to the actually battery... so, yeah, the battery may be fine in yours you never know... your best bet is to just buy a new one =/

All Pokemon G/S games have an internal battery(P223-ND)

I had a problem like that in my silver game a while ago when I tried to play it just for fun...

The "continue" option still showed up, and it had my data, but when I tried to load it, I just got a message that said "ERROR," and it would restrt my game.

Since then, I've tried starting a new game, and it it appears to save, but as soon as you shut it off, the same error message appears.

i hope these things dont happen in other GBA/DS Games, another reason why Cartrages Bite lol

ok, you can buy three P223-ND batteries for $15. you can buy three cartridges for $25. Which is a better deal?

you can also buy 3 nd batteries for $15, and mess the cartrige up even more while putting it in, and then buy the games you messed up for $25... wats cheaper?

and, i don't have the problem with the games... i use roms.

    lol, learn how to solder?

My friend bought a Silver version like that but it was used. She couldn't get it to save no matter what she did. Even on my gameboy it didn't work. She had to buy a new one in the end...

Meaning it was 2nd handed, or was it fake? If I was in the place of your friend, I would screw up that person who seld that version... That person should go to jail...

this has never happened 2 me and i own both. it could b the interenal battery, but my ruby has that problem and i can save succsessfully.

been there, done that! both gold and silver are corrupt. this kid i know says to wipe the inside with a baby wipe. Thats how he got out of the "missingno" situation.

ok. to sum everything up. the internal batteries lose their power after 6 years. They were released in 2001 and it is now 2007. That means this year is the official death of the cartridges year. soon all you will be able to do is change the batteries. Nintendo fixed the problem with GBA cartridges...
