3rd Gen Grrrr @ French.

    Last year or i bought pokemon sapphire in france on my holidays without knowing it would be in french language, i was well angry and didnt play it. Then a few days ago i started to play it again and thought i could get all the starters by trading them with my ruby game. I dont have a link cable so i trade pokemon between versions using a gamecube link cable, meaning i trade pokemon to GBA to GC then to GBA. When i tried to trade it said that i couldnt because of the language difference. I was just wondering if this would happen if i tried to trade it straight to the gameboy without having to trade it the pokemon XD first. Or, is their anyway to change the language settings?

    I believe that you can trade between different language versions with Gameboys. I know that people have done this between Japanese and American games, but I'm not sure how it'd work on European versions to American versions or whatever.

    Even if it doesn't work, feel lucky. I'm learning French, and I'd love to have the French version of a Pokemon game to help me learn.
     
    I read in the Pokemon World that you can't trade between different language versions, it would harm your game. Sorry
     
    DBW is right and, besides, it was your own fault. I mean, do you really think they'll distribute English copies in a country that mostly speaks French? Very few countries do that.

    Well not really. It's not like it's difficult to put a language converter in the game.

    Yeah, really, it's called common sense. Gee, I'm in France so I wonder if the games here will be in French, the native-language, or English, a non-native language. :\
    I don't know if you can safely trade between two different language cartridges, but you certainly try. Just remember to save your game before doing so. But hey, at least you have a free opportunity to pick up some French.

    Well i wouldnt say common sense, my friend bought pokemon ruby in Ireland when she went to stay with her grandparents for a while, they speek Irish in Ireland, but the game is in Engish ;)

    No they speak English (apart from some minor places).................. but English is the language :\

    Have you noticed alot of the words they use are English?

    It's not called Irish, it's called Gaelic (or as they prefer to spell it, Gaeilge). But only a small percentage of the Irish use that language daily. Ronin is right, most of them do speak English (although with their own accent).
