I'd like a little help with a moveset for a Gyarados I have been training so far. Currently level 57.

I haven't really EV-trained it yet as I have just finished Exploring most of Sinnoh and finding decent places to level-up.
Just a few things I'd like to figure out. I want to focus my Gyarados in Attack & Speed, and Special Attack if that is possible. I would like to know locations as to where I could do such EV training in Sinnoh.

Also. it's moveset. I want some help on it.
I currently have Surf, Ice Fang & Dragon Dance set as moves.
I would like to keep Dragon Dance & Ice Fang as they have always proved useful in the past.
What moves would you recommend for a Gyarados that will be EV trained in such a manner?

Any help would be MUCH appreciated. :)

Here is a set that plays to his stregnths:

    Gyarados@Life Orb
    Nature:Adamant
    Taunt
    Waterfall
    Dragon Dance
    Earthquake
    EV:252 ATK, 252 SPEED

Taunt to allow him to use Dragon Dance undisturbed. Earthquake is self explanitory, and Waterfall for Same Type Attack Bonus.

Surf is awful, because his Sp.Atk is too low.

    Gyarados@Choice Scarf
    Adament Nature
    EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
    -Waterfall
    -Earthquake
    -Stone Edge
    -Ice Fang

My own Gyara, suprises alot of things due them not expecting Choice Scarf (although his speed ain't that great even after CS)

Choice Scarf boost Speed, right? Not bad. Perhaps it has lousy speed IV's, that can be the reason it doesn't get the most out of Choice Scarf.

On Sims's set, Ice Fang and Stone Edge are options over Taunt and the EV spread should be 76 HP, 252 Attack, 180 Speed or 212 HP, 16 Attack, 180 Defense, 100 Speed if you want to go with a bulky Gyarados.

That could well be true, since when I was breeding for it I focused on Attack and didn't care about the others as much. Prehaps a rebreed for a retest is in order

At most, Adamant DD Gyarados only really needs 240 Speed. If Jolly, then shoot for the 270. In between the lines doesn't help much.

    Gyarados @ Leftovers
    Ability: Intimidate
    EVs: 88 HP / 216 Atk / 36 Def / 168 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Dragon Dance
    - Earthquake / Taunt
    - Ice Fang / Stone Edge
    - Aqua Tail / Waterfall
Even in D/P, there's not much of a use for Taunt unless Skarmory comes out, and that's not as big a threat as it was back in the Advance days.

I disagree with Iceman's Taunt comment. Taunt has shut down plenty of Umbreon, T-waving Blissey's, and the like. But I see your point.

And you are both right. 240 is all the speed that's necessary. Unfortunatly for me, my Gya has poor speed IV's. I had to fill it to the max 252 in order to get 242, so I got a bit confused.

EDIT: Oh, and Smarties, I went for a DD Sweeping Gyarados. I'm not exactly sure if that EV spread works for that role, but yours is definatley an option.
