Gym Leader...?

    Okay, I was just wondering.

    How exactly does a trainer become a gym leader?
    If you automatically become the champion when you beat the current Champion,
    Where do you become a gym leader?

    I've thought of this, and it didn't make quite sense.
     
    By being the most epic in the town/city? That's what I think. Being admirable and strong and so on and so forth. Maybe competitions are held in order to gain the title? But in GSC, Janine takes over the gym after Koga leaves, and in RSE, Flannery takes the gym after her grandfather.
     
    Check out the Fighting dojo in RBGY. Whoever wants to form a gym can, and if they want to be "official" they simply apply to the league which then sends out an inspector to determine if they have what it takes.
     
    It's the best of the best, and then that best will defeat the other in that city, thats what I'm thinking
