I'm here trying to level up my Golbat to a Crobat, and I'm wondering what I can do to increase the Happiness rating so it evolves. I have him holding the Soothe Bell, which is supposed to help, but is there more I can do? I've been keeping him at the front and letting him battle, currently at L38 but still hasn't evolved yet.

I guess my question is, what does affect your Happiness rating? I've heard rumours that letting him level up helps, as does giving him vitamins (dropped some Carbos on him earlier, his EVs are kinda messed up though).

Well, just catch a zoobat with a friend ball and train it to it's 30s.
That seemed to work for all my happiness evolution pokemon.

Yeah, leveling up should help with it. Don't let it die so much, let it hold something (soothe bell...). I don't know how vitamins would help though.

Well, he's at L44 now, and still hasn't evolved... I wonder why he's taking so long. It's not like he's been fainting or anything, I've been careful to make sure he doesn't. I have entered him in a few contests, and he's lost more than he's won, so maybe the contests have something to do with Happiness.

Hmm dont know.... My evolve at 36 and the only thing I did was training.... No sothe bell^_^'' Try to cath a zubat then evolve it up... Then I think it will evolve at 36..... That was i did....

Erm...I cheated to get mine. If you just caught a Golbat, it'll take a while...well...you'll have to gain a few more levels. A Zubat could be a Crobat by the 30s because you've probably had it since it was 8 or 7...

I might just do that, I'll probably be easier. Especially if I use my Luxury ball, you start off with a high Happiness rating if you catch a Pokemon in one of those.

EDIT: And no, this one I've had since it was about L7 or so. So it should have evolved by now...

Here's a thing someone posted a long time ago here at PC:
Seriously though in order to get your Igglybuff to evolve, you're better always keeping it at the top of your team, if your Igglybuff's at a low level when facing high level pokemon use the bait and retreat tatic, which i'm sure is obvious enough. But do make sure it does get it's fair share of battling pokemon by its self. Try to avoid letting it's HP bar turn red, or letting it faint; the same goes for letting it get Poisoned, Burned etc. Give it an item to hold. Take it to the Haircut brother's as often as possible....and that's all i can think of right now, though i've likely missed out something, but remember things like evolution by happiness take time so be patient...

They seem to like Soothe Bell, battling (and I think gaining levels), items used on them and walking around. They don't like fainting. I don't think it makes any difference if they do the whole battle or are switched out straight away, as long as they get EXP. Put them in your party holding Soothe Bell. Give them some 'vitamins' (a full quota of EV training is good here). As well as having them gain EXP in battle normally (by having in front and switching out), take them to somewhere where the Pokemon are relatively weak to them. Buy a whole lot of items like potions, lemonade, lava cookie etc. Battle and let them take a small amount of damage from these weak Pokemon then immediately heal them with potions, antidotes etc. Paradoxically it seems to be a good thing if they are burned or poisoned, if you heal them straight away, they are even happier.

I think giving them Pokeblocks might make them happier too.
